"YHA Grasmere is a massive, well-maintained property with a really great team of staff. The kitchen and dining areas are huge and spotless, and having plenty of showers on every floor means you never have to wait around. The rooms, showers, and toilets were all kept very clean. "We had a lovely stay overall. We visited for one night and were kindly given a complimentary upgrade to a lodge room, which was a really thoughtful touch. The staff were incredibly helpful throughout, and the breakfast was excellent. I’m unable to comment on the evening dining or spa facilities as we didn’t use them—unfortunately I couldn’t access the spa due to being pregnant—but they looked fantastic from what we saw and from the photos. The only downside was the cleanliness, which didn’t quite meet expectations. When we checked in, there were dead bugs on the bed and side table, and quite a few cobwebs in the outdoor area of the lodge, which meant we didn’t use the seating outside. At breakfast, we also noticed dead flies on the windowsills, which isn’t what you’d expect from a hotel of this standard. That said, everything else about our stay was great, and we would return. It just felt like the cleaning standards may have slipped slightly during the weekend we visited."
