I stayed here for 3 nights and really enjoyed my visit. From the harbor you walk to the bus which costs 2 euro and drops you off right in front of the hotel. Staff is lovely and friendly and help you book things like a sunset horseback ride (highly recommend!). Rooms are clean and cleaned daily. Breakfast is really good, best free breakfast I've had in a month. Even comes with meat and eggs. Also Tigaki beach is nice and lots of cheap shops and food nearby.
I stayed at The Golden Sun for two weeks in late July with my elderly dad. The apartments are run by a family who were friendly and helpful. We had a two bedroom apartment which was large and nicely furnished. There was plenty of cupboard space for clothes, a dressing table and TV in the main bedroom. The second bedroom was simpler and smaller, ideal for children. The kitchen area was clean and new looking, the usual two ring 'hob', a kettle and a full size fridge. There were plenty of plates, mugs, pots and pans etc
The apartment was cleaned (thoroughly-using a Hoover!) every day and beds/towels changed twice a week. There was constant hot water and-a powerful shower.
In addition to the usual shutters, there were mosquito nets on the windows and balcony doors-this was excellent as there were millions of mozzies around!
During our stay there was a nice mix of nationalities and ages. These apartments seemed to attract quieter guests, who want to sit by the pool, have a swim or use the apartments as a base for the beach (10 min walk) or for exploring the island. While we were there, there were no screaming children jumping in and out of the pool or loud groups of people 'taking over'.
A final word about the pool, it was very clean and already warm when I had my swim at 8.30 every morning-lovely!
So, all in all, we were very impressed!
On Kos' flat north coast, this peaceful resort lies 12 kilometres west of Kos Town. The long beach has fine golden sand backed by dunes and offers water sports, notably windsurfing. Part of the beach is reserved for nudists. Facilities include several small, reasonably priced hotels, traditional Greek tavernas and low-key bars. The nearby salt marsh attracts migrating birds such as flamingos. Excursion boats run to the nearby island of Pserimos.
