We arrived at the hotel at about 1:30 am. We could not get the room we had requested because the door lock did not work so we were put into another room. The lady on the front desk was accommodating but unable to give us access to internet service. They moved us the next day to the room we requested and gave us internet access. The front desk attendant, Dustin, was very helpful throughout our stay. I found the free shuttle service was not useful. I used it when they did their once a week run to the grocery store. Other than that, they only had scheduled runs to medical centres so a trip elsewhere was not permitted so don't expect to get a trip to the NRG stadium from this hotel. I was there to attend the final four basketball tournament being held at NRG. This was my biggest disappointment. The hotel itself was fine and actually better than expected. We enjoyed our stay.
Room was nicer than expected. Reserved a room with kitchenette and there was plenty of room with a separate bedroom from the living area. View from 12th floor was nice to see out over the area. Staff was courteous and room was taken care of each day.
This is the most convenient hotel in which to stay if you have business in the Houston Medical Center complex. It is connected to Methodist Hospital and Scurlock Tower by elevated walkways, and is right next door to the St. Luke's towers. Restaurants, pharmacy, gift shops are available on second floor. Parking garage is attached for self-parking, current cost is $11/day; over night parking is allowed. Not sure if all rooms have a refrigerator but mine did.
The hotel was on the level that I expect from a Hilton. The staff was very friendly. Check in was quick. The restaurant was awesome, excellent food and very attentive servers. I have two complaints about the room. Even though we were on the to floor, there should have been hot water. After taking two cold showers I decided to let the water fun just to see if hot water would eventually come. It took 30 minutes of running the water for this to happen. That is wasteful. Most people would not even try this. Also if you want to get up and shower right away, it would be impossible. The second thing was that the outlets for hair dryer and curling iron in the bathroom were very loose. They worked but the plug was hanging almost out of the outlet. This cannot be safe. My husband could not even shave in there as the plug for his razor would not stay plugged into the outlet. Another minor inconvenience was that I placed my breakfast order on the door for a 9:00 to 9:30 delivery. The breakfast came at 8:40 while I was in the shower. If my husband had not been there, I would not have heard the door and would have wondered where my breakfast was at 9:30. As it was, by the time I got out of the shower and blew dry my hair, my breakfast was cold. At Marriott hotels, there is a 15 minute window for delivery and if your breakfast is not delivered in that window, it is complementary. Hilton should adopt this policy
Stayed here for a conference at the medical center. Compared to the alternatives:
1. It is 15min walk from medical center, the alternatives will be actually on the campus.
2. It is at least half the price of the hotels on the campus.
3. It is in a nice quiet environment, with palm trees and a residential neighborhood. The alternatives are big glass boxes.
4. Rooms have a full kitchen with refrigerator, stove and kitchen sink. Perfect for extended stays.
