We were visiting Houston for my husbands business conference and decided to go and stay the weekend before. The room we had was great on the 3rd floor with a view of the front of the hotel. The room was nice and big, bed was comfy with plenty of pillows. Water pressure of the shower was excellent!!! There was a huge storm that flooded Houston while we were there and our flights got canceled the hotel was nice enough to let us have a late check out of 3pm. Over all our stay at the hotel was wonderful and I would go back again.
I checked in 4/17, on the eve of the worst flooding in Houston, Tx. I went up to my room, which was excellent, got settled and ordered room service. Delivery was prompt and professional (though expensive). Overnight it rained constantly, Monday Houston was flooded and the hotel was a minimum staff due to the conditions. Room service was cancelled so I went to the restaurant for breakfast, for a minimal staff, the food was great and the staff they did have were hustling to take care of us. For lunch, the same thing, minimal staff, the GM was working the hostess/check out area of the restaurant. It was unfortunate they didn't have any lunch options other than the buffet but I didn't complain. The next two days were normal and just a standard hotel stay. The absolute only thing negative I have to say is that I ordered a hamburger for dinner Monday night and asked for it medium rare and it came well done... That's it. Great hotel, nice, clean, friendly staff. I was impressed that I didn't see a lot of the "going's on" of daily hotel life (housekeeping, janitorial, maintenance). They were overwhelmed with guests and flooding yet they made my stay, at the least, very enjoyable. Bravo Wyndham Houston West!
It was less than 2 miles from the event I was attending at another hotel, and the room was less than 1/2 the cost. My room could not have been more comfortable and inviting. I rested comfortably after the long drive to Houston, and also after the event. I was pleased to be able to sleep late for the 12:00 check out time the next day. Fast, check in and out. The staff were all just excellent.
This hotel was an okay experience. The staff was pleasant and cheerful upon arrival and throughout our time there. The hallway to our room on the third floor kinda had a bad smell(like rotten eggs), I couldn't tell if it was from someone exploding in their restroom or something else going on, But it lasted all night. It was there when we left at 4 and still there when we returned at midnight.
The room was nice, the bed was hard, but some people like that. The ac was loud. Overall it was a decent hotel experience but not the $127 dollar experience I was hoping for.
