Check in staff were very helpful in providing map and directions for nearby places to walk to and explore.
They were also flexible in letting me have a little extra time before checking out which was better for my flight time and they made arrangements for a taxi back to the airport at a reasonable cost.
This proved to be a great base for our week in Budapest as it's located minutes from the nearest metro stop. The staff were very friendly/helpful and if you'd had a tiring day walking around this beautiful city, the restaurant attached was a real treat!
The hotel was off the main roads and we found it very quiet and peaceful. There were not many quests in the hotel at the time though. The hotel staff were very polite and nothing was too much trouble for them. We ordered a taxi service to and from the airport through the hotel which was brilliant and easy. The breakfast was European (obviously) and as a fussy eater I was pleasantly surprised to find several options to eat. They had a selection of fruit teas which were lovely though I did miss good old English breakfast tea so do take your own tea bags if you like a cuppa - they do have milk. They had meats, cheeses, cucumber, tomato, scrambled eggs, boiled eggs sausage and bean mix, breads (with jam, peanut butter, butter), fruit salad, yoghurts, a selection of cereals and muesli, croissants and mini chocolate doughnuts and muffins. The room was cleaned every day and the towels replaced if you left them on the floor. The only slight downside was that they didn't sweep/hoover the floor daily so we found that having slippers was very useful to stop grit from the roads outside getting on your feet and into bed! We didn't ask reception to sweep though - I'm sure they would have if we had mentioned it. We also had a small entrance bit which we could have used to take off our shoes and prevent treading it into the room. The room was very clean and had firm mattresses. We made use of the wellness room too which was all ours when used during the day. We had a very pleasant stay.
So I want to start this off by saying that the staff was great, even letting us checkin early after an awful night train experience. However, do not expect to be staying in a Thai hotel. We received one of there "bourgeoisie Hungarian style" rooms. Whic felt like a room that had not been renovated. Ironically, the entire building is being renovated and the entrance and stairs were filthy and full of debris. For the price I would return, it was a good location, but I was disappointed based on the pictures advertised online; very deceiving.
The hotel, although not on the main road is central to everything you could need & the staff can't help enough. I wasn't too sure about a shared bathroom & shower but it was super clean.
It's so reasonably priced and I really can't think of a negative! I would highly recommend to anyone going to Budapest!
Terezvaros is one of Budapest’s most central districts. Nagymezo utca, the city’s version of Broadway, is lined with cafes, wine bars, and theatres, including the Municipal Operetta Theatre. The oldest metro line in continental Europe runs below ground in this district. Originally constructed in 1896 and revamped to celebrate its 100th anniversary, the line is still in use today.
