The Old Orleton Inn

The Old Orleton is a 10 room hotel. If the other 9 rooms are as comfortable as ours they'll be very good. We were here 3 nights including Sunday when Sunday Lunch is the order of the day and no evening meal or bar available, which may be a minor niggle, but there are other eateries in the area. These may not be up to the Orleton standard - the food is very good!

"Change of pace from bed and breakfasts"
After staying at small bed and breakfast establishments (although they were nice and we enjoyed them), it was great to be in a large room (with a huge bathroom) on the first floor and be able to have dinner without leaving the premises. Dinner was excellent also. Our stop at the Madeley Court served as a bit of a respite from our hectic motor tour of England (although we only stayed one night).

"Lovely family B&B"
Upon arrival I was greeted by the landlady and swiftly taken to my room. I was offered to book a table for dinner in the restaurant downstairs, which was buzzing and served tasty food in generous portions. The room was airy, clean and comfortable; the only thing I would suggest is that the landlords change towels in the room to white colour which will make the rooms even more attractive. There's free wi-fi and you definitely need it as there is no phone reception. Breakfast is served from 08:30 but the landlady asked me upon arrival what time I would like breakfast for and was more than happy to accommodate me for 07:30. There's beautiful scenery too and I would love to return to this cozy B&B sometime soon. Highly recommended!!!

"Pleasant stay and excellent staff"
There was a wedding on but did not disturb us in our room, however, my friend says her room was right above the party and it was loud and finished around 12.30. The hotel has a great location very near the M54 and was easy to get to. The breakfast was good, however we had to wait about 20mins for table as there was not enough space because of the wedding guests. Overall a pleasant stay

"Excellent food with a warm and lasting welcome and"
A wonderful welcome from the owners of the Bird in Hand. The pub itself is quirky in it's upper layout and a real treat to try to work out, this may account to the buildings age as it has been standing since well before the Ironbridge itself. The rooms are comfortably furnished with a 70's early 80's feel, with all you need for a short stay. Meticulously clean throughout with a shower en-suite, tea and coffee, radio TV and beds that are SO comfortable, had it not been for the bedroom window view of the River Severn in the mornings and the promise of a lovely and filling home cooked breakfast served with a hearty felt Good Morning from Steve, it would have been hard to leave the beds amazing comfort. The food at the Bird in Hand is impeccable, the hardest part was deciding what to have from an extensive menu and the daily specials. The portions are generous but just right for a holiday indulgent. Allow for a rest between starter, main and then dessert if you can fit it. If you cannot please rest a while loner with a cask ale or cider until you can fit a pud in, you wont regret it. The family running are accommodating, friendly and go out of their way to assist. This B&B was a rare find in this current days trend for clinical and impersonate hotel B&B trends. It's a establishment that we will be returning to as they have perfected the art of a traditional B&B service.

"Lovely room, fantastic food, noisy wedding party."
The hotel was located in a small, light industrial estate and the setting was very peaceful. The grounds had the potential to be very attractive - a pond / woodland area needed some serious work to bring out the best. The hotel was attractive and nicely laid out, the dining room in particular was light and airy. The food was fantastic and the dining room service was excellent (although the bar was less attentive) - the only thing missing was prepared fruit at breakfast. The room was spacious and comfortable, however the very keen air conditioning did not compensate for only having a small window. The reason for the low overall score was the noise from a wedding party. On checking in I could see that there was a wedding party and asked if we would be bothered by the noise - I was told that we should not be bothered and that rain was due which should keep things quiet ! How wrong this was. The doors between the reception room, the corridor and the (attractive) courtyard, we're all open which meant the noise spilled out, straight up to our room. Although the (extremely loud) disco finished about midnight, the noise carried in for sometime after - including in the corridor. I do not begrudge the wedding party having a great evening but believe that 'normal' guests should not be housed in rooms near / overlooking the festivities - the double glazed windows are just not up to the job. I would stay here again but only if I could be sure that there wasn't a party going on.
