Fantastic family stay. Value for money.
Property is in a beautiful location with stunning views. Very short drive to Swanage and great location for getting to places such as Wareham, Kimmeridge and Durdledoor. As other reviewers have said, the photos don't do the property justice and in todays climate I found the price good value for the amenities. Very clean and property well equipped. Just a note that there's a shared passage at the back of the house to get to the back garden. Just need to be mindful if you are bringing dogs. Also to note, house is accessed by a dirt track.

Lovely accomodation
Absolutely perfect accomodation for our family of 6. It is perfectly situtated within walking distance of the coast without having to be within the tourist area. The property manager was fabulous at communicating and left lots of helpful information for us. The cottage was well equiped and we had everything we needed for our week away.

We loved our stay. The house is clean and bigger and brighter than it looks in the pictures. Great views towards Corfe and Swanage bay from the front of the house. It’s ideally positioned for walks, perfect for families who enjoy being outdoors, especially if you bring your dog like we did.

Beautiful view
Well modernised cottage. Lovely kitchen and bathroom. Lovely view to front. Bedrooms very light, great in day but would benefit from thicker curtains. Would not recommend for small children due to the prominent stone hearth surround. Also the instruction not to allow the dog to "do its business" in the garden but to take it across the fields renders the garden useless for a dog (Have you ever tried to make one stop) All in all a great place for a family with older children but wouldn't take a dog or small children.

Holiday cottage
Very clean and cosy with log fire but not enough logs or coal for a 3 day stay and the heating on timer wasn’t adequate if you wanted to stay in although the owner left phone numbers so might have provided more if we had asked. Plenty of hot water and dog walking areas but didn’t see any local shops. 2 pubs in village and short drive to Swanage though.

It is a friendly, homely property. Everything works really well for a family stay. We had three adults and two children. Plenty to do within a short distance. The highlight was just to walk across the fields, closely followed by a short cruise in Poole harbour. We hope to return.

Beautiful location
Beautiful location with views of Swanage bay one side and corfe castle the other! Spacious 3 bedroom cottage, located down a narrow private lane, luckily we had a 4x4 so the potholes weren't an issue but I think we got a few scratches from the overgrowth. The kitchen was very well equipped for us to cook in the evenings opening out into the dining room and there is a very comfortable sitting room. The towels weren't soft and there's some mold in the bathroom grout which could easily be sorted along with the fixtures just need bringing back to life and the limescale removed. All in all, for the price this is an awesome place. Just needs a little TLC and attention to detail. We enjoyed amazing walks to corfe castle through fields of sheep, cows and horses.

Purbeck Stay
Loved the property. Perfect location for Purbeck walks, right from the front door. Lovely garden, comfortable lounge, fine kitchen, great shower... During the second half of our holiday the sun went, and the strong winds started. It was a bit of a challenge saying warm in the master bedroom. The caretaker helped us with the heating settings, and there were lots of blankets provided, but the mattress was so cold as the wind leaked through. Fortunately we had taken an electric blanket with us, which saved the day!

Delighted that you enjoyed your visit to Castle View. The prevailing winds are, of course, SW - from which our cottage is sheltered. When the winds are strong in the north the front of the house is very exposed. However, as you found, our heating system is good and strong and needs to be turned up if necessary. Pleased that our cleaner was helpful. Do come again. John

We really enjoyed our stay as an extended family with teenagers and also grandparent. The house has a comfortable lived in feel which was just right for us. It felt like a home. Well equipped kitchen and good bathroom with plenty of hot water. Very convenient downstairs toilet as well. Good location with a 20 minute walk over fields to the coastal path. Quiet with outlook over fields and further away hills plus Corfe Castle and the sea!

Beautiful, clean and cosy cottage ,open fire in the evenings made this break away truly memorable. Stunning views all round. Weather was a bit wet and soggy but did not dampen our enjoyment. Plenty of walks straight from the cottage door. Only one problem, not enough time to do everything we wanted to do! So returning next year.

Covid short Summer break July 2020
It was absolutely perfect for us, very comfortable. In a place we know well from previous trips. The cottage location at the back of the village with the open views made it peaceful and quiet but all favourite places very accessible. Only one suggested improvement would be clearer instructions for the water heating which foxed us.

Brilliant location and fantastic views and wildlife. We were within easy access to all the attractions we wanted to visit. A pity the local pub wasn’t consistent with their food, a bit hit and miss with the kitchen being open. A great holiday and would look to booking again next time we visit Dorset.

Lovely place to stay
The property was in a fantastic position and ideally located for visiting many of the attractions of the Jurassic Coast. The Living room, dining room, bathrooms, and bedrooms were lovely and clean but the kitchen could do with some extra work, the oven and oven trays/racks were very dirty (not so bad now as we scrubbed them, but they could still do with some attention). All in all though, an excellent place to stay and a very good price for the area.

Amazing location, well equipped homely cottage!
We stayed 3 nights and had a wonderful time. The cottage has everything you could need but the most impressive part are the views across the valley and waking up to the sound of sheep. The only mildly annoying point was when the cleaners arrived half an hour before check out which was stated to be 11 a.m. on the website. But they were friendly and mad a start upstairs whilst we finished breakfast and loaded the car. All in all a lovely stay and would definitely go back! Many thanks

February break in cosy cottage.
The property is extremely well equipped, clean and nicely decorated. We arrived after driving through sleet and snow on one of the coldest days of the winter so far, so we were not surprised that the house felt very chilly. However, a phone call to the housekeeper helped us to over-ride the timer on the central heating, and the place pretty soon warmed up. We were also able to borrow some matches from the very kind neighbours and have an open fire on our first evening. The views are really spectacular and the location ideal for us. We visited Wareham and Lulworth Cove, went on the chain ferry to Sandbanks, and had a very enjoyable pub lunch in the Fox Inn at Corfe Castle. Our dog was relaxed and happy in the cottage, and had terrific runs on the beaches at Swanage and Poole. Happy memories to see us through the rest of the winter!

Pretty cottage with lovely views
We stayed in the cottage during a very cold and windy January. A number of the windows are only single glazed so the cottage was quite drafty, with wind blowing under the front door and through the letterbox. But the caretaker, Jane, was happy for us to have the heating put on continuous, and with the open fire and some throws, we were all very cosy. The cottage was clean, well presented and very well equipped. We didn't have any problems with our mobile receptions (3 and O2). Neither did we have any problem with the internet/wifi. And our girls were delighted to discover that the tv had Netflix! The views from the lounge and master bedroom were absolutely stunning, and the silence was a godsend. No cars or aeroplanes! The only real down side was the garden, although fully enclosed and private, it regretfully wasn't secure enough for our Cocker Spaniel. The Purbeck stone wall at the front is very low, and as the top is very wide, my dog just jumped up on to the top of it and then leapt off to the ground below! Maybe this is something the owner could address? Otherwise, a lovely place to stay and we would happily visit again.

We are delighted that you enjoyed your stay and thank you for your very detailed report.. When there is a northerly wind it blows across the valley straight into our front door. We have tried to insulate it as far as possible. However the central heating system is good and strong - as you found out - and a blazing fire in the lounge is a bonus.. Incidentally all the windows in the cottage are double glazed. Regards, John
