Castle Ward is a building of two halves, the result of the ultimate marital compromise. Lord Bernard Ward wanted to live in a neoclassical mansion, but his wife Lady Anne was a big fan of Gothic architecture. So they built both.

What can I say all the staff were so friendly and couldn't do enough for us. It is in a great sitiuation, just a short distance from the main shops. local musicians come in and play their music from time to time. The food was excellent, both breakfast and evening meal.
We would definately use this hotel again when we are in the Downpatrick area.
Many thanks from a very happy customer.

Myself and my partner only stayed for one night. The cabin was very clean and cosy with everything we needed for our short break. The bed was very comfortable and the shower was excellent, things that not all places we have stayed get right. We used it as a stop off on our trip to photograph the mountains and surrounding areas, this was the perfect stop off for what we wanted.
Thank you for the stay, it made our break, we will definitely be booking again.

The hotel was wonderful - we had a lovely, spacious, quiet room. Breakfast was excellent as were the meals we had in the Bistro and in the restaurant. It exceeded our expectations - the reviews had made us nervous of noise etc. from wedding parties but we were there across a busy August weekend with weddings and a coach party and it didn't affect us at all. We were visiting our son who was working in Belfast and we had hired a car so we could tour around. He was also able to get taxis to us...

My partner and I had a wonderful stay here. It was ideal as we landed at George best airport and it was only a short drive away. We were greeted at the front desk by this lovely gentleman who made us feel more than welcome. Helped us with where to get food despite the late hour. He even stored my partners insulin in the fridge somewhere safe. The beds were very comfortable and we had no disturbances all night. Highly recommend!!
