We were just a short walk down from Colchester Castle and High Street, where we could find a wide range of pubs, restaurants, and shops. The city centre train station was just a short walk away as well. Thank you to our host for the awesome check-in and also for the lift to the "other" train station for our trip back into London. "This hotel has a great location just outside Colchester in the University Campus. Lovely staff - very friendly and helpful. Very good breakfast, but limited dinner options for the vegetarian /vegans. Our room in the old part of the hotel was nicely decorated but had an odd layout and an uncomfortable bed. I was told the new wing of the hotel is better. Notwithstanding that, it was a good stay and great value for money."

"The hotel is good. Further removed from the airport than you’d think though, and costs £4 per person to get there via the shuttle bus, which isn’t often mentioned. The food and lounge were nice. The only gripe would be the air conditioning which didn’t keep up with the heat in the room and only cooled down in the middle of the night. Fix that, and you’ve got a winner."
