Good value

Posted 14-Nov-2015
Pros: Location is great. Room was very good value for money and the building, complete with wonky floors is lovely.
Cons: Some small cosmetic tidying up could make a big difference and allow staf at the bar to take orders by pen and paper rather than turning their back.
I stayed in a basic room, which was fine, especially when taking price into consideration. Staff were very pleasant and friendly, although the computerised till system behind the bar meant more effort was given to that rather than speaking to customers at times. Breakfast was ok rather than great.

Comfortable rooms

Posted 31-Aug-2015
Pros: Comfortable room, great shower, plenty of tea, coffee, chocolate. Nice staff, good breakfast.
Cons: Print out guest & room details first thing in the morning so if computer crashes they know where to put guests.
Location: Close to Brighton, attended a wedding in Steyning.
Had two rooms booked first night & one extra for second night. All good until computer problem at hotel so my son, his partner & baby were unable to book in to room on second night. They were meeting us at a wedding reception but had to wait in bar then use our room to shower & get ready as hotel staff were unable to find their room!

Dont come in late

Posted 23-Aug-2015 on Hotels
Hotel rooms are a bit dated. We were there for 3 days for a family Wedding. Village is very quaint. Breakfast is served between 7am-9pm with no exceptions. Food was decent however suggest extending breakfast to 10am. You are given 2 keys of which 1 gets you in and out of the front door after 11pm. We returned back from the Wedding at 1230am and tried to get in and someone had snibbed the door which meant we couldn't get in. Eventually a GUEST came down and let us in. These things happen however when I approached a member of staff about it in the morning she jumped straight onto the defensive. She done everything to put the blame onto us and mentioned that there was a number to call on the keys. We tried to call this number from about 1240am and eventually someone answered about 1am. I suggested to her that a key card system could work better and she pretty much ignored me. Wouldn't purposely visit this hotel again mainly due to the attitude of this one particular lady...

Lovely Castle Inn Hotel

Posted 08-Aug-2015 on Hotels
Lovely old hotel with friendly helpful staff. Rooms were clean and spacious & food was good too. Good selection of cooked breakfast available as well as the usual cereal and toast etc. also had a good selection of teas (I don't like coffee) with fresh perculated coffee on tap along with juices. The hotel has a beautiful beer garden out back with parking too. We enjoyed our stay and would definitely recommend.

Charming traditional English pub

Posted 31-Jul-2015 on Hotels
We stayed with our three kids in the largest room of the house, which was a bunk bed and two single beds in a room. The place was charming, the staff friendly and very warm. The small neighboring town of Steyning is definitely worth a visit, we walked there and had the best lunch and afternoon tea of our whole stay in England. Wouldn't hesitate to recommend the Castle Inn for a traditional stay in the southern part of England.
