"We arrived quite late, having travelled up after a long week of hard work. Although we missed the opportunity to eat, we had a drink and retired to our room. Walked through a very pleasant looking outdoor seating with well landscaped gardens and ambient lighting, Even by the entrance to the block where our room was, there was a couple of chairs and we did have a sit for a while, as it was a very warm evening. Our 'Superior King' room was a very nice surprise, most don't live up to the billing. This room was and felt luxurious, substantial and very clean, throughout. The bathroom and amenities all of a high standard, all helps in unwinding. We watched some TV and slept well in the very comfortable bed. Breakfast was a real treat with a selection of fresh cooked options, including my choice - smoked haddock, with poached egg, spinach and Hollandaise sauce. My husband's choice of vegetarian breakfast was also excellent. Piping hot coffees and freshly brewed tea rounded off a lovely overnight and set us up for a day wandering and chilling out. We are looking forward to when we next find ourselves in this part of England. We will make a beeline for the Craven Heifer Inn."

"Wonderful overnight stay with our springer spaniel . Lovely clean and spacious dog friendly room in the Annex with a fabulous view . Set in wonderful grounds with lovely outdoor areas and enjoyed a great circular walk down to the river. All staff were so friendly and the steak for the evening meal was cooked perfectly as was the very generous breakfast . Definitely be back"

"Room was in good condition however it was a disabled room that was not advised on booking. There was an intermittent unpleasant smell coming from the bathroom. Seeing the disabled room I immediately requested a room change but here was not much enthusiasm as we had a 2 night stay and was told the hotel was full the following night so not much they could do and on the first night there were currently no other made up rooms. Overall the staff at the bar and in the restaurant and around the hotel were very good however breakfast on Sunday morning left a lot to be desired in terms of service as anything cooked took an age to arrive and my wife after at least half an hour gave up on hers but it did arrive as we were leaving! The grounds and facilities are excellent. On departure I was clear to my complaint on the room, I was offered a token without any any investigation and offered access to speak with the deputy manager. I declined both and hoped it would have been dealt with differently as my point was not financial and being fobbed off with £50 and having to request the manager did not feel right. My intention was to convey disappointment with the room in the hope of investigation and recognition to a problem with some assurance it would not remain an issue for others. I left feeling no one really cared! "
