History

Whether it’s an insight into the history of this part of the world or a relaxing spa break or golf holiday, Aberdeen is the perfect destination. With centuries of fascinating history on show in the city’s architecture and museums, over 50 golf courses in the area and many fine luxury hotels, first time visitors are in for a treat.

Beautiful Buildings

Aberdeen’s architecture is constantly evolving. In 2011 Her Majesty the Queen opened a new £57 million library for The University of Aberdeen, an institution that has been in the city since the middle ages.

You can chart the growth of the city by looking at its three cathedrals, the oldest of which is the Cathedral of St. Machar in Old Aberdeen – the only medieval granite cathedral in the world. The Episcopal Church of St Andrew was built at the beginning of the 18th century in the perpendicular gothic style. Finally St Mary’s RC Cathedral is an excellent example of the city’s Victorian architecture.

Stay in one of Aberdeen’s fine hotels and experience the city’s rich heritage.
