"Great hotel in a fantastic location. The staff were friendly and helpful, rooms were very clean. Our family had a suite and a classic room and both were great. Suite had tons of room which was great with a toddler or if you have a baby, bath and a shower option plus two sinks. Secure and central parking was very helpful given the location. Only slight negatives were that to go out in your car you had to tell the hotel as you could be blocked in and they might need to move another car, we were told it would only take 10 minutes but sometimes it was longer and felt a bit of a hassle getting in and out. For the price of breakfast we were disappointed in the options, the fruit salad was just apples one day and had grapes added another. It’s a shame they didn’t have pancakes or waffles on the menu. After paying extra for breakfast there was then an extra charge for eggs Benedict. We thought about ordering to our room for breakfast but even though we had paid there was still a tray charge of £8 and we couldn’t justify it so we went next door to Gail’s in the morning. We would definitely come back but wouldn’t pay for breakfast again."

"The hotel is great for location to the castle, however: The lift wasn't working. Bathroom is unkept. In very poor condition. Cistern is continuously running water. The grouting is everywhere, apart from where it should be. Side of bath mdf all scrapped away. Brown mould. Bathroom sink tap broke off in hand. Plug holes were dirty. Bedroom : mattress didnt fit the bed stead. (In 2 halves, sideways) Side lamp not working. Curtains were in disrepair and not on runners. Black stains on carpet. "

"Room was simple but spacious for our family of 4. It was very far from the main hotel areas though, and lifts being out of order between buildings made it incovenient with a buggy and luggage in tow. The bar and pool areas were lovely. The a la carte restaurant was a bit limited for kids and gluten free options, but was good to also have the option of the buffet style restaurant which was a better plan with children."

"Always had good stay with village before but this time there was problem at check in as I booked through Expedia. Paid through Expedia, and only had to pay for late check out at hotel but they tried to take full stay and the extra payment. They kept saying there was issue as there was insufficient fund in my card but I had already paid for stay. They blamed Expedia for this. Already a bad start to the stay. The rooms itself are good then when it came to the next day, even though we paid for late checkout cleaning staff opened the door while we were sleeping at 11. No knock prior. Overall bad experience this time. "
