"This is a lovely traditional country pub with friendly hosts and locals, attentive staff and a welcoming, relaxing atmosphere. The food is home cooked pub food at its best and the breakfast was high quality and served to your own personal preferences. Nice walk by the Humber completed our enjoyable night escape. Fantastic value for money, no hesitation in recommending this place. "

"Very good check-in. Staff were helpful with directions and a map of the area. They really tried to make us feel welcome, and succeeded. Quaint little room was a lot of fun and all amenities were thoughtful (umbrellas provided in the room for example) and comfy. Breakfast was reasonably priced and had lots of good choices. Surprisingly quiet at night - they had a patio nearby but we didn't hear a thing from it and enjoyed restful sleep. A great place and we were glad we stayed there."

"You check in at the tavern and the rooms are in the lodge at the rear of the property. Everyone was really friendly, the room was very clean and the bed really comfortable. Would recommend staying here if you need somewhere to stay in the area."

"Fabulous location opposite the end of the Shambles and within easy walking distance of all of York’s attractions. Only one vegetarian option on the menu and limited selection of cask ales. There was no room cleaning for the 3 nights we stayed there - toilet rolls and drink replenishment had to be asked for downstairs. Cups were cardboard ‘to-go’ variety and there was no hairdryer. TV reception was ‘dodgy’. We spent most of our time out and about so didn’t have breakfast at the hotel as...

"I really liked the convenience of this property. Just 2 small gripes. There was no hairdryer there and although it had coffee and tea making facilities, there was no teaspoon. As I do not carry one and there was no staff to ask for one, this was disappointing. Otherwise good."

"Have never been to a Glamping pod before but would absolutely visit the little hide again. The pod was a good size and had everything we needed. Great location and the showers/ toilets are well kept. Would come back next time and will bring a disposable bbq to use at the shared area."

"The location is fabulous, the apartment is fantastic and amenities great. The beds were not great, very uncomfortable. They advertise luggage storage and before we checked in they stored our luggage and then took it to our room when the room was ready, that was awesome, but when we asked for luggage storage on our check out we were told we would have to pay. Staff were very friendly and helpful."
