Run by a lovely, very helpful couple who want your stay to be as good as it can be. Provided parking, excellent breakfasts, helpful local knowledge. The room was very clean and was refreshed & restocked each day. Highly recommended.

Incredible dog friendly hotel with on site restaurant. The room with an external door was ideal for letting the dog out easily. Very clean and lovely place.

The back road is a worm hole in space time connecting Bebbanberg with Paris, Texas. Purdy Lodge is lying low and as you crackle along the gravel through the truck-stop it would be no surprise to see Travis squinting into the low winter sun as he shambles past the all night gas station into the drug store to get some ice. Stayed here a number of times. It's perfect for a quiet retreat with no distractions such as TV or phones. Owner tim is always on hand polite and helpful. Highly recommend the place.

We wanted to visit Alnwick Castle and Garden so chose Castlegate Hotel because of its proximity to this fabulous visitor attraction. We were welcomed by the owner and shown to a large twin bedded room with beautiful colour co-ordinated soft furnishing. We had a most comfortable stay here with plentiful tea and coffee making supplies. Stayed Sunday/Monday - excellent welcome and room. Had an evening meal and breakfast. The food choice is very good and the quality of the food served was excellent. The staff are really friendly and professional and could not do enough to help you. In terms of access to some of Northumberland's best coastline you cannot have a better location. Everything and more than we hoped for.
