The hotel was a disappointment

The hotel was a disappointment to everything that was advertised. The rooms that were given to us and meant to be the recently refurbished did not look refurbished at all. The staff in the dining when we went to have breakfast have zero to none personal skills... We waited to be seated for a good 10 minutes whilst they just stood at the back and looked at me and my sisters. Finally when one of them came they looked like they had been forced to talk to us like they didn't even want to acknowledge us. We'd made a custom order for breakfast and were assured that everything was sorted, I'd called even a few days before our arrival just to ensure they had it sorted and they said they did. To my disappointment when I got there the staff there kept saying we've informed the chef and your order will be coming until after we had waited for 30 minutes for our food only to be told that our order had not arrived blah blah blah... The apology made wasn't even sincere, the girl who came to inform us looked like she just wanted to laugh. They could have told us earlier and we could have made better use of our time but no, they waited it out. On that same day I had to wait for 30 minutes to get my order of warm milk and this was after asking 3 different staff. I'm honestly disappointed truly and really. Absolute rubbish for a hotel of that nature.

Arrived at 1pm staff a little abrupt that we were very early for a 3pm check in. We had 2 rooms, receptionist got key cards mixed up- no apology! Room ok, great view of skips! Very hot room, no AC but with windows open slight smell of the skip. Facilities looked good although with a 1 night staff not enough time to use them.

Thank you for your review, as the hotel is undergoing refurbishment we do unfortunately have to place skips somewhere and the rear of the hotel is the logical place. We do not place food rubbish in the skips and they are only used for dry waste, old beds, chairs etc Hopefully we can allocate you in a new room on your next visit.

Nice atmosphere good pool

A nice quiet location, attractive period building and with very good pool/leisure facilities. Drinks from the bar a bit dear otherwise great, we're regulars when visiting family in Rotherham.

Nice comfortable stay.

15 years since I have stayed in this hotel last but staff were friendly. Dinner was finished a bit early so didn't eat. Left early in the morning so didn't have breakfast but the room was fine and comfortable. It is going to become a Best Western the receptionist mentioned very soon. It was a friendly welcome and a recommended stay.

Thank you for the nice comments and we hope to see you again soon. Dinner is served through to 9pm in our restaurant and 9.30 in the bar except on Sundays with Breakfast being served from 7am -9.30am during the week and 8.00am - 10.00am weekends.

Great stay

Relaxing time at the spa with wife and Children. People at Reception were really professional yet friendly. Breakfast was great. Pool was gigantesque. Sauna spa and steamroom great. our Room was huge.

Beware the food

Nice enough place but badly let down by the dinning , on arrival I was told no dinner until 8:45 which pretty late , but the main course was really bland and service slow , breakfast was a disaster extresy flow service and a buffet that ran out of milk but much worse only fried eggs and they ran out all the time I made 5 trips and never got one do gave up and had a slice of toast and vowed never to stay here again , I told reception and they said yes it was busy , I told the taxi driver who said he had heard bad things , so my advice hi elsewhere

Wi Fi didn't work in the room. As i was travelling on business this was very frustrating as I had to sit in the main Reception to work on line, I did ask to be moved to a room with a better Wi Fi coverage but this was not offered. Nice pool and leisure facilities apart form luke warm Hot tub

I can say that we take all of our guests comments very seriously and use them to improve service. We do have great Wi-Fi coverage within the hotel and try our utmost to make sure that all rooms have a great service. I shall look at this issue in greater detail and look at additional boosters if need be. I do hope that we see you again and I do hope that you see the improvements made.

Pros: Staff
Cons: Everything just looked a bit tired.
Location: Near my client's site, don't know anything else about the location.
Not much to say. The staff were great, especially the lady on reception. Otherwise not really much to say. Food was OK, room was ok, bathroom was ok. I didn't use any of the spa facilities so I can't comment on those.

Great weekend break

Good motorway connection to sheffield centre and Peak District. Friendly helpful staff. Nice leasure facilities.
