This was our second stay at the Daffodil Hotel in Grasmere having previously stayed in February. The hotel is very clean and tidy with a very friendly and helpful reception staff. The apartment was fantastic, plenty of space for relaxing in the lounge, whipping up a quick snack in the kitchen (which was very well equipped with toaster over, stovetop range, cutlery, plates, and a small refrigerator). The bed was extremely comfortable, and the hotel is set back far from the small highway, so no noises disturbed our sleep. All in all it was a very nice stay food was excellent room was very good only thing that took the edge of the whole experience was we were told breakfast finished at ten we got down at 9-32 and a snoty waitress said breakfast finished at 9-30 I pointed out it’s only two minutes past surely you can squeeze us in no chance spoilt the whole experience

Hotel was quiet. Staff were helpful and friendly, Only gripe and I suspect this is what it limits it to 4* is a swimming pool and exercise facilities. Breakfasts were excellent, This was off season and hotel was quiet. Views from room of lake were spectacular. Hotel was very dog friendly to the extent of providing dog bed and bowls.

Great stay, hotel is immaculate and staff are very friendly. We were offered vouchers to redeem at the bar for drinks instead of maid service which we took. Maid still came in one day which was nice. We arrived on a Saturday and it was very busy. There was a wedding on so lots of kids running around. If you’re looking for a quiet trip book another day and avoid the weekends if you can. Family get together for 2 nights. Food excellent, bar service very good and rooms spacious and clean.

Booked the hotel and was surprised when checked in the scenery was breath taking and the room with a sea view I got very good value for my money.

We stayed for 3 nights and wished we could have stayed longer. For us the location was perfect, we enjoyed the walk to the lake and into town, which took about 25 minutes through the lovely gardens of the hotel. We were enchanted by the garden and were lucky enough to look out over them from our room. The staff were very attentive and the facilities were excellent. The only downside is that there is no lift so if you can't do stairs you would need to request a downstairs room.

Lovely hotel, fabulous friendly staff. One of the best breakfasts I have ever had in a hotel, letting you choose exactly what you want so it’s made to order and piping hot. Will definitely be back - loved it.

Everyone from the manager to the restaurant staff were friendly and super helpful. We had 2 babies and a dog and they did everything possible to make our stay fantastic.

We had the most enjoyable 5 days at the hotel, the staff were very accommodating, the breakfast was wonderful as was the evening meal my only preference would be an-alternative evening menu occasionally

My wife and I stayed for just one night in a room with a mountain view. The room was decorated in a traditional country house fashion and was very clean and comfortable. We were welcomed upon our arrival by the owner who was attentive throughout our stay, as was all the staff. At first, there was an over-abundance of deference and I really wanted the staff to 'unbutton' a bit and let their own personalities shine through. Had a fab stay first time visit to the lakes with my family... Breakfast was delicious filled us up for the day... Quite village was gutted that hotel didn't have Sky TV hence missed the Aston villa game as most Local pubs would only allow children in till 9.00 pm... Would stay again... Was disappointed with the wifi as took our Amazon stick for kids to watch films but we had no internet connection

Stayed as a stop gap between Scafell Pike and The West Highlands. Good location, just out of a town, but quiet. Lovely rooms, great breakfast, very friendly, efficient staff. The only possible criticisms I could think of are that the rooms could have been more thoroughly cleaned, but we're of a good standard, and it would have been lovely to have an alternative to tea and coffee provided in the rooms (like a mint tea or similar), but these really are pinickity things.
