Edgbaston Park Hotel Birmingham

"The hotel is modern and our Executive room was very spacious and comfortable. The Reception staff were very efficient, friendly and helpful and in general there was a pleasant vibe around the place. One exception we found was breakfast on the first morning where we had the feeling that it was being run more for the benefit if the staff than the guests - closing one of the two functioning coffee machines 30 minutes before the end of service is so obviously asking for trouble and when that duly occurred so there was no way of getting coffee there was no word of apology, just a firm command to be patient. Food was good and bar prices and quality fine. Overall it's a very nice place to stay but it clearly favours guests who book direct which feels uncomfortable when you've booked through an online site. Access and parking are a little weird (Google maps direct you to a multi-storey when there are lots of spaces in a car park right next to Reception) but worked fine for us. We enjoyed our stay."

"Had a lovely one night stay here with my 12yr old daughter as we wanted a couple of days shopping at the Bullring. Room was good, clean and comfortable but I have to say that the shower was really quite dangerous for my daughter. No way of controlling the temperature as it’s a simple hose off the bath taps. One minute it was scalding hot, the next freeze freezing cold. Not what I’d expect from a Mercure really. Other than that though the staff were friendly and helpful, the breakfast delicious with lots of options including gluten free for me! We managed a swim but wasn’t the warmest pool and the sauna wasn’t working and hadn’t been for a couple of months apparently. All in all I’d stay again but ask for a room that has a better shower!"

"No where to put suitcase after off loading clothes Need variety of hot drinks like herbal teas and decaf coffee Room hot though fan provided Was in room 139 and someone upstairs was very noisy during the night and I couldn’t sleep much until they settled"
