The Anchorage Hotel

"I stayed here for only one night in a single room. The view from my window of the water was peaceful and, although facing the road, it was not a busy road. Unfortunately the bar was located directly below my room and the noise from there carried. Breakfast was adequate, with the dining room overlooking the water too. Despite the noisy bedroom, I'd choose to stay here again as it was conveniently situated."

"Clean compact room - accessed by a small staircase. The building is an old property in an elevated position and we had a great Seaview over the pier. We didn't stay for Breakfast but did eat in the restaurant which was good. All the parking spaces were taken by the time we arrived but there were spaces on the road leading to the pier car park so didn't cause an issue. I would stay again."

"The main hotel is stunning! Beautifully decorated and really charming. The 'beach' is a bit of an overstatement but the views of the water are incredible. Now the room ... although it is advertised (not particularly well though) that the private bathroom for the double room is not in the room ... i think any hotel that is under expedias luxury programme should be able to sell any rooms without an inroom bathroom ... especially when the other rooma in the lodge are not much for expensive! Either the room needs to be heavily discounted for the inconvience of having to leave the bathroom and go down the hall tp use the bathroom or the room should not exist. As for the free breakfast.. it was brought to us without cutlery and as we were in the lodge when we tried to call reception to get some sent up there was no connection ... so my partner had to eat his breakfast with a tea spoon & i did not even bother... once again not fitting into the premise of a luxury hotel .."

"We were surprised to find that guests have to pay an additional fee for parking. The building is quite old, so the ventilation wasn’t great and the room felt quite stuffy. Even though it was already the end of August, the room still felt quite warm and poorly ventilated. At night, there was also quite a lot of noise coming from the hotel kitchen downstairs, which was quite disturbing. Apart from these points, the staff were all very nice and friendly."

"Lovely property , very homely, kitchen has everything you need , welcoming pack of tea, sugar, coffee and biscuits ( plus milk in the fridge) , beds were so comfortable, shower great with hot water, plenty of room with two sitting areas , garden secure for small adventurous dogs , plenty of inside and outside seating , views of the sea from upstairs , close to restaurants, shops and beach less than five mins away . Robert was a fantastic host with prompt replies and on this occasion we were able to access the property ahead of time . Thank you so much Robert for a wonderful stay !! "
