"My husband and I had a wonderful stay with Jean-Paul & Genevieve in their gorgeous B&B. Located in a small countryside village, we found the location perfect for exploring the wider area, though it is remote from shops & restaurants so you must plan accordingly. The guesthouse is situated in a wonderfully restored substantial village property, with great comfort and decor, as well as a very refreshing pool in which to cool down. Parking was conveniently nearby, and our hosts were incredibly...

Top Peyrolles Hotel Reviews

Hotel du Pont Vieux, au pied de la Cité Médiévale

10/10 Excellent

"Lovely hotel in a great location, very quiet and peaceful at night even though centrally located. Breakfast was excellent"

Hotel l'Octroi

8/10 Good

"The room was clean and staff very helpful. However, the room is very small and the bathroom is a wet room, meaning no separate shower from the rest of the bathroom. The shower wand is not user friendly and we didn’t realize when we turned on the water that it lterally sprayed across the room, wetting our bathroom countertop and personal items. No coffee in the room if you like having a cup first thing in the morning."

Résidence Carmina

10/10 Excellent

"The hotel is perfectly situated for visiting the medieval city of Carcassonne. If you are looking for a central hotel at a reasonable price this is the perfect choice. The room was a spacious apartment with separate living/kitchenette and bedroom. The bathroom was spacious. The bed was very comfortable and the apartment was well furnished and clean. The residents of the hotel were friendly and I think it is a good idea to utilise the spare rooms for hotel guests. The hotel had secure parking as well."

Tribe Carcassonne

8/10 Good

"The hotel has a great view of the castle and the roof top bar is definitely a bonus. The room was clean and have everything we needed however the toilet was in what can only be described as a cupboard with no space at all. The decor was too dark so much so that we couldn’t find the light switches! The carpet was black and when we dropped a black hair brush on the floor it took us 10 Minutes to find it!"

Comfort Aparthotel Carcassonne

10/10 Excellent

"This was terrific value for money and would happily stay again. While it's a good 15 mins or so up a hill from the station, for £40 or so, there's nothing at all to complain about- big rooms with cooking facilities, microwave and even a dishwasher should you need it, a lovely swimming pool and staff who were knowlegable and extremely helpful; particularly Guaytan , who couldn't have been more efficient and personable. All in all, very good."

Frequently asked questions

What is the best area to stay in Peyrolles?

The best area to stay in Peyrolles is within the village centre, particularly around the Place de la Mairie, for a convenient and authentic experience.

This area is the heart of Peyrolles, offering easy access to local amenities and a genuine village feel. The Place de la Mairie is a central point, often surrounded by small shops, a bakery, and a café, making it very walkable. The streets radiating from this square are typically quiet and lined with traditional stone houses.

Couples looking for a tranquil and picturesque stay will find the village centre ideal. You can enjoy leisurely strolls, discover local produce at the weekly market, and experience the relaxed pace of life. The proximity to the church and the historic fountain adds to its charm.

For travellers who appreciate good value and a peaceful setting, accommodations slightly outside the immediate village centre, but still within walking distance, can also be excellent. These often include guesthouses or small holiday rentals that provide a bit more space and privacy, sometimes with views of the surrounding countryside.

When is the best time to go to Peyrolles?

The best time to visit Peyrolles is during the late spring (May to June) or early autumn (September to October) when the weather is pleasant and the crowds are fewer.

During these months, you'll experience comfortable temperatures, ideal for exploring the rolling hills and vineyards of the Occitanie region. The spring brings blooming wildflowers and lush landscapes, great for photography or gentle walks. Early autumn offers the spectacle of the grape harvest, with golden light and a relaxed pace.

Couples looking for a romantic getaway will find these periods particularly appealing. The mild weather allows for leisurely vineyard tours and alfresco dining without the intense heat of summer. You can enjoy the local markets and charming village life at a relaxed tempo, perhaps even taking part in a local festival.

For those interested in outdoor activities like cycling or hiking, May, June, September, and October provide the best conditions.
