"The place was basic but comfortable. The rooms had heating and hot water. The location was very good. Within a 400m radius, one could get onto the railway, city centre, main shopping centre and loads of eating places. Thank you Sadek, Sam and Carmelia, you made our stay there so enjoyable."

"Staying here has been a great experience. It was very easy to find and in a prime location! The rooms are clean and the air con was a bonus. "Beautiful property on the river; as an American, this was the idyllic English setting; staff are excellent, professional; food is wonderful. We added an extra night to our stay because we didn't want to leave. Very clean."

"I'm so glad that I stayed at the Vanbrugh House Hotel. I usually stay at other ones when I'm in Oxford and this time I wanted to try the Vanbrugh. The staff at this little hotel are absolutely amazing and really friendly. The rooms are very nicely upgraded and are very comfortable. The standard rooms are very small, but I was on my own, so it was large enough for one person. I stayed in the "Link Room" - each room has its own name. Even though it's small, it has everything you need, even a little minibar with free coffee, tea, water and cookies. The bathroom was beautifully updated as well. The location is absolutely wonderful; the hotel is in the heart of the city. The only drawback of this is that you can't park at the hotel. There are other places to park if you do arrive by car (5 to 10 minute walk away). I will definitely stay at this hotel again!"
