The hotel is great. Very clean and has an elevated contemporary feel for the price. Check in was phenomenal with a special shout out to Sam, who was fantastic.
We ate in the restaurant and although the food was excellent and the staff really lovely, it was clear that they were very short staffed, as it took ages to order, I waited 30 minutes for my drink, and the food took a very long time to arrive. We ate a starter and main and, were seated for over 2 hours. I asked for the bill as soon as...

Stayed one night only ideal short bus ride to the music venue, could not fault the place. Bus stops right outside the hotel, a no brainier if you want to visit Brighton too!

We had a wonderful welcome back from Mihal, when we arrived early and left our luggage. And then at check-in, we were greeted by the amazing Simona and her colleague, Fiona, who were so friendly and helpful - a pleasure to meet and chat to. Our room was wonderful - huge and comfortable bed, espresso machine, very clean and we were very happy to have a fridge, too. Only area for improvement would be to have had drinks and snacks in the fridge that are suitable for vegans, but we weren’t expecting...

Loved our stay at Colson House. We haven't been back in 12 years, and it's still as lovely as ever. John was very friendly and welcoming. Great location, the hotel is beautifully decorated.

Spent a fantastic couple of nights at A Room with a View for Valentine's weekend and we were both over the moon with our choice! From the moment you walk in it felt welcoming and cosy, yet had all the mod-cons and more. My husband loved the cooked breakfast (and the coffee machine!) and I felt very spoilt, being gluten free, with all sorts of specialist items for me to enjoy. The room was lovely with an amazing view from the roof terrace. The whole place was clean and very well looked after -...

The best area to stay in Ovingdean is the village centre, particularly around The Green and Beach Road, offering a blend of village life and seaside access.
This area provides a lovely village atmosphere, with traditional Sussex flint cottages and a quiet, relaxed feel. The Green is a central point, often used for local events, and Beach Road leads directly down to Ovingdean Gap and the beach. It's a fantastic spot for those who appreciate a slower pace but still want convenient access to the coast.
Couples looking for a tranquil escape will find the village centre ideal. You can enjoy strolls along the beach, explore the local footpaths, and dine at the village's traditional pub. It's superb for unwinding without the constant hustle and bustle of a larger town.
Families will also appreciate the village centre for its relaxed environment and access to outdoor activities. The beach at Ovingdean Gap is less crowded than Brighton's main beaches, offering a more peaceful spot for children to play.
When is the best time to go to Ovingdean?
The best time to go to Ovingdean is during the late spring and summer months, from May to September, when the weather is generally at its finest for enjoying the coastline and countryside.
During these months, you'll experience longer daylight hours and warmer temperatures, making it ideal for walks along the South Downs Way or relaxing on Ovingdean beach. The sea is also warmer for swimming, and local outdoor activities are in full swing. This period is great for those looking to make the most of Ovingdean's natural beauty and outdoor offerings.
For those who appreciate fewer crowds and a more peaceful experience, the shoulder months of May, early June, and September offer pleasant weather without the peak season hustle. You can still enjoy all the outdoor activities, often with better availability for accommodations and dining.
