"Such a lovely stay at The Birdhouse. Roger and Nancy were lovely, kind and great communicators. They said hi to us upon arrival and we found out they have a band and a record! The house was very clean with so many thoughtful amenities including soaps, paper towels and toiletries. The pool was beautiful and relaxing. The hot tub was clean and hot. We loved are stay and are looking back to another visit. The location of The Birdhouse is incredible. Just enough it seems far away but only 9 minutes to absolutely delicious restaurants!"

"My second time staying at this quaint hotel. The bed is incredibly comfortable and for a solo traveler, the room is the right size. I would imagine for two people it is more of a tight fit. As it’s an old house, the walls are quite thin so I could hear nearly every word of the boisterous conversation next door, and the kitchen staff cleaning up at the restaurant downstairs is quite loud if you’re trying to get an early night’s sleep. Maybe bring a sound machine if those kinds of noises bother you. The water pressure in the shower was quite low and not a lot of water comes out, so don’t expect a luxurious shower experience. But overall, a cute place to make a weekend getaway and very clean and well cared for. Note there is no staff on site and it is self check-in."

"The property was in a Idyllic setting. You cross a one lane wooden bridge to arrive at the home. A small creek runs along the house. One negative, no small items - dish soap wash cloths, I know it is not a hotel but I am use to the little niceties when I go to VRBO for extended stays and we enjoy cooking at home some nights."

Shangri-La Sonoma - 5BR 4BA Redwood Retreat w/Heated Pool

"The retreat is beautiful, and there is plenty of room to spread out and enjoy quality time together in nature. The front and back cottages are a nice location - set back from the main house, however, important to note - no bathrooms within either, so you will need to be access the main house if you need to the restroom in the middle of the night. The kitchen is wonderful for shared meal making and has plenty of dish ware and a variety of teas to enjoy! No dishwasher tablets were available, which made cleanup a bit more of a heavy lift.Our group had great weather during the stay; kids had fun exploring the backyard space and the on-site Ghost Town saloon steps away. Unfortunately, the beautiful pool was not warm enough for the kids to swim for longer than 15-30 min dips. The home is about a 15-20 drive from downtown Sebastopol, which made for an easy enough trip into town for ice cream or a meal. It is about a 10 min drive from Earthseed U-pick which we loved for apple-picking in September.There were some communication hiccups that would have made our check in swifter, but we were able to address the issues quickly with the responsiveness of the host!"

If you would like a quiet, serene experience in a rural setting, this location is great.This was a good base to explore Tomales, Dillon Beach, Bodega, Bodega Bay and Valley Ford.The Estero Cafe was nice for breakfast and Dinucci’s is a must do for both the food and the experience.I generally prefer short term rentals to hotels but this visit at the Estero Guesthouse was a bit too rustic for me."
