Time to "Chill" & Relax.

Posted 16-Jan-2017
Pros: High standards all round.
Cons: Nothing really, even the scenery is superb.
Location: Ravenscar, North Yorkshire Moors, twixt Scarborough and Whitby. A real gem of the Yorkshire Coast.
Brilliant setting to achieve my objectives. Raven Hall Hotel had last seen me in the 1970s, as the terminal point of the famed Osmotherly to Ravenscar "Lyke Wake Walk" - 40 Miles within 24 Hours across the North Yorkshire Moors. The setting is still so ruggedly beautiful, overlooking Robin Hood's Bay. Hospitality services are first rate; rooms are well finished and comfortable and the food is truly first rate. Activities offering a wide choice to suit most tastes are available. Well worth a visit.

Delightful Hotel overlooking Robin Hood's Bay

Posted 13-Jan-2017
Pros: The natural calm and beautiful surroundings. We were fortunate in that it was sunny and warm for a January weekend. That gave it added magic.
Cons: It was a fantastic stay - breakfast was good - so no suggestions here. Keep things as they are.
Location: We went to Robin Hood's Bay and the visitors centre - as well as Boggle Hole to see the Youth Hostel that was also very interesting.
We needed a January Blue's break having received some difficult news at work that may mean I could lose my job. So we agreed to go the Raven Hall Hotel - given we had holidays there previously it was an ideal spot. As we approached Raven Hall I became quite excited, and it felt like I was heading back to a place of peace and tranquillity. Raven Hall has so much to offer - incredible views from many rooms and the restaurant, a general ambiance that allows you to genuinely relax round the fire, in the bar, in the lounge or in the pool. If you want more exercise - there are many picturesque walks close to the hotel, or you can use the Gym. Have fun with friends playing table-tennis. It is just an amazing place where you can relax and share some time and make very special memories. Life is about clam and inner peace - when I left Raven Hall on the Sunday after just a brief overnight stay I felt calmer, better grounded and closer to my inner peace. An amazing weekend.

Raven Hall Country House Hotel

Posted 09-Jan-2017
Pros: Everything. The grounds outside are lovely too and the view is very special
Cons: This is beyond the hotel's control but the parking was a little frustrating as other guests took up more space than needed, making parking spaces scar
From the start of our visit until the very end we were very impressed with all aspects of the hotel. The staff were very friendly and couldnt do enough to help. The evening meal was very good and the breakfast was great. I often worry about the quality of a self-service breakfast but this one was fab. All hot food and plenty of it. The room was clean and in very good condition. We will be back for sure!!!

Room with a View

Posted 23-Dec-2016
Pros: Views
Cons: A little more attention to detail. i.e. Games room.
Location: Whitby and Scarborough close by.
It's hard to imagine a room in this hotel without a view, perched as it is looking out on the North Yorkshire Coast with stunning views over the bay to Robin Hoods Bay. Perhaps a little pricey, the games room was certainly tired and could do with some TLC including some new pool cues and some chalk. Again the food was a little pricey though of a high standard.

Very Close to a 5* rating.

Pros: There is so much to do at this hotel if you have the time, such as playing golf, tennis, table tennis. swimming, or enjoying a time of reflection in the lovely Chapel, however we were unable to do any of these things due to having our dog with us. The hotel is dog friendly and there are 2 lounges opposite reception where you can bring your dog whilst you eat your meal, if you feel that it may not be happy being left in your room. There are also stunning views along the coastline. We will most certainly book another trip here.
Cons: The shower temperature control knob did not work and the TV did not pick up any of the digistal channels due to a connection fault on the digibox. Both were fixed on the day we reported them, however the TV then emited a loud buzz and had a jumpy picture which we reported when we left so hopefully the next guests will benefit. The Hotel is meant to have Wifi but during our 3 day stay neither of our laptops managed to connect to it and only one of our mobile phones managed a connection, however this was slower than dial-up if it chose to work. We had no vodafone signal in the hotel and had to walk about a quarter of a mile from the hotel to be able to send/receive texts or make calls.
Location: Journey on the North Yorkshire Moors Steam Railway, Visit to Goathland (Hearbeat TV Location) Visit to Staithes, Whitby, Rosedale & Hutton Le Hole.

The stay wss good. The food was excellent as always. Bathroom sealing around bath was not great at all. We left something in our room after checkout and we went to reception which was very helpful, management was rude and rushed as there was a wedding which ment the usual crowd was passed off due to concentrating on only the wedding

The grounds and location are simply breathtaking.

Posted 22-Sep-2016 on Ebookers
Pros: Again, the grounds and location - the view of the North Sea. Utterly perfect.
Cons: Air conditioning. But installation would probably ruin the entire atmosphere, not to mention the cost and ugliness of construction.
Location: We hiked the cliffs above the North Sea and strolled around the gardens.
I understand it was unseasonably hot when I was visiting, but the lack of air conditioning in the entire hotel made my stay uncomfortable. However, the friendliness of the staff and the beauty of the grounds and surrounding countryside, made it very worth the stay. I am sure that if there was proper English weather of damp, cold and rainy, it would have been absolutely perfect.
