Awesome views of Moray Firth from our tower!
5 / 5 Excellent
What a delightful surprise was our stay at this hotel! We were looking for a staycation get-away for the October break & chose the Muthu Newton as a base to do Highland day trips. After a tour of Balmoral we had a thrilling drive over the Lecht Cairngorm mountains on the A939 (Beware! Narrow, unmarked with pheasant & sheep wandering into your path!) and arrived at the hotel in the dark. We were intrigued to discover our glamorous bedroom (Room 203) had a mystery spiral staircase, but didn’t appreciate that it had a fabulous view over the Moray Firth until the next morning. We decided to scrap our side trips and just explore Nairn the next day - OK we were knackered from the night’s drive, but the hotel and town was an actual resort, frequented by Charlie Chaplain, other stars & heads of state - we needed to savour the experience! And speaking of savour, the food at the Muthu Newton Hotel is haute cuisine - real fine dining. We had breakfast and dinner each day. You can walk from the hotel in past the front field with sheep and Highland cattle, and in six minutes be on the beach. There is a seafront path which leads past public swimming baths and a seafood cafe to the harbour where you can book an ecotour boat ride to see seals and possibly dolphins. Nairn has shops and major grocery stores. The hotel is COVID safe, with evident hygiene and safety precautions. We couldn’t endorse the hotel its courteous staff more.
