If you want the true Hakuba local experience and taken back in time, this is your spot. No frills and feel like you are staying with your relatives. Amazing hosts that go above and beyond to make your stay pleasant. As for proximity to Goryu base, we walked it back (10 mins) at the end of every day so it’s very close. Since most of the Japan Ski resorts are mobbed by foreign tourists, getting away from the commercialized sections of Hakuba is really nice. This will give you that experience.
