This is claimed to be ski-in/ski-out, it is not! More like walk far ski less...
There are plenty lodges / hotels / inns that are nicer and have much more to offer which are much closer to the lifts... yes, this location is closest to the slopes by sight and air distance, but unless you have the means to jump 50 meters with a height to clear a gondola, you're better off choosing different accommodation ;-)
They also claim full continental breakfast...That must be the joke of this century!
They serve you a depressing, ill-tasting hospital like experience in form of a bento box - EVERY morning! So, unless you're suicidal please bring your own food...
We had a room sleeping 8 - it was a room with two beds and 6 horrible mattresses... not ideal skiing with back issues every morning.
The only thing they really know how to do at Hotel Bonfire is overcharge...
Stay somewhere else. For the love of god, stay somewhere else!
Hotel staff is helpful when needed ! Almost ski in, ski out location ! Dinning around valley is easy !

Well located in Happoone
Staff are friendly and helpful. The hotel is in a good location. Our room was clean but small. Even though the hotel is next to the gondola you have to negotiate a steep driveway by foot which can be tricky at the top and bottom. It is about 100 metres walk from the godola. Our room was on the 5th floor. Elevator only goes to fourth floor. The room had a small high window so we could not see anything outside. There were no chairs, no kettle or cups and no fridge in the room. There was a communal kettle and microwave in the hallway on the next floor down. Breakfast was a toasted egg sandwich and cold sweetcorn soup (I think).
Right next to gondola but you’ll have to walk a bit to ski - long steep driveway, street, then resort- 100m or so.
Traditional Japanese style room with basically no furniture- sleep on floor mats.
Great features include: good daily breakfast with a great view, comfortable common area with massage chairs, big bath (onsens) is very nice and hot, and very convenient ski gear storage.
Thanks to Lee and staff for a great stay!
Lee and his team are very helpful, but be aware that some rooms only have Japanese style futon beds, not ideal after a full day of skiing. Massage chairs are great. Note that although this hotel sits next to the gondola, you still have to walk around 200m around buildings to board it, so it is NOT ski-out, ski-in.
Stayed at the Bonfire for 5 nights, the hotel is in a perfect location, right on the snow and surrounded by restaurants and shops.
Rooms were large and clean
Cooked Breakfast of a morning was brilliant
Lee the Manager was awesome, drove us anywhere we liked and looked after us...
This hotel is in the traditional Japanese style. If you're not used to that style, it will take some getting used to. Great location and easy to get to the gondola.

Great Management and Great Location for Snow Trips
Really enjoyed our stay at Bonfire. The owners who have recently taken over were super friendly and very accommodating. Free massage chairs and onsen were great. Short stroll to Happo One gondola. Hakuba 47 /Goryu shuttle leaves from out front and only a few minutes walk to Happo Bus Terminal for access to all of the other snowfields.
