Top Montefoscoli Hotel Reviews

Villa Petriolo

10/10 Excellent

"Staff were as incredible as anyplace we have stated. Grounds and hotel room simply immaculate and gorgeous. Far exceeded our expectations."

Castelfalfi

10/10 Excellent

"Get ready to be impressed if you stay here. Every staff member from our arrival to our departure genuinely greeted us and welcomed us and many remembered our name. They always asked if we needed anything or offered help or suggestions in a genuine “we want to help way”. The concierge before our stay was ultra responsive, during our stay they were always present. You want attention to detail, Castelfalfi has it covered. Drinks are carefully made and delivered. Turn down service straightened the room, put little clothes under anything we had on the bathroom sink or room table, a new bookmark was left next to my book on the nightstand, cords were always wrapped and made to look tidy, I could go on and on. The food in the various restaurants was amazing. The little meat and cheese shop made a tremendous& fresh sandwich sliced up right in front of us on fresh baked bread. The view of sunset from the back deck had many guests out watching for good reason. The spa pool was great and the gym was pretty big. The breakfast buffet had everything you could want. Want fresh honey? There was a station with a honeycomb taken from their property…it drips fresh honey into a tray that empties into a bowl for you. The wine tasting was fun and delicious and worth it. Everything is on site and you will not want to leave the property during your stay or at the end of your trip. Castelfalfi- I hope and pray I return some day, thank you!!"

Hotel Casolare Le Terre Rosse

10/10 Excellent

"Absolutely lovely hotel. Best one we stayed at in Italy - in retrospect, we wish we booked to stay here a second night. The location is quiet and isolated so stars are visible at night, plenty of parking, and breakfast is worth the 20 EURS, best breakfast options we had during our stay. Highly recommend, 10/10."

Relais Santa Chiara Hotel by Double Hospitality

10/10 Excellent

"The biggest mistake we made... was leaving. What a wonderful place to stay and enjoy the Tuscan countryside. The proximity to Sam Gimignano was perfect. Short stroll of 7 minutes and you are there. Room was clean and comfortable. Great water pressure in the shower with plenty of hot water. Loved the charm of this hotel. Met by Gaia... so hospitable and helpful. She walked us out to show us where parking had been set aside for us as asked (I received welcome emails ahead of my stay and inquired about parking. All was neatly arranged.) We enjoyed dinner in the bar area twice. All meals were wonderful. But the breakfast spread was just delightful. So many choices of fresh food. Delicious!! Thank you for a wonderful stay. Molto bene!!! Gratzie mille, Gaia!!"

Mormoraia

8/10 Good

"Great location close to San Gimignano for day trips Siena, volterra, etc. Beautiful views and very peaceful. Very clean and comfortable hotel, with gorgeous 360 views from rooms. Unfortunately it’s very expensive to use the amenities, so we didn’t use them. The staff are very nice and helpful. The restaurant was OK. The breakfast was good but not great (coffee was great though). We enjoyed their wine."

Hotel Leon Bianco

8/10 Good

"This hotel was right in the main square, which was nice, and it was the only one of 5 that we stayed in on this trip that included breakfast, which was very nice, but the room felt dated. I mean, the town IS from the 13th century, so gees, what can I expect, but I expected the room to be a little nicer. I have a feeling we got a lesser room because we booked through Expedia, because I saw a few other rooms in my brother's travel group who booked directly with the hotel and theirs were much nicer. Also, do know that the walk from the P2 recommended parking to the hotel is quite an uphill, so bring small luggage!"

Frequently asked questions

What is the best area to stay in Montefoscoli?

The best area to stay in Montefoscoli is within the village itself, or in one of the beautiful agriturismi or villas scattered across the immediate countryside.

Montefoscoli is a small, elevated village, offering panoramic views of the Tuscan landscape. The village centre is compact, with a few local shops, a church, and a museum dedicated to rural life. Staying directly in the village provides easy access to these local amenities and a chance to experience authentic village life.

For couples seeking a romantic and secluded escape, a villa or agriturismo just outside the village is perfect. These properties often feature private pools, expansive gardens, and offer a peaceful setting with stunning views of the rolling hills and olive groves. They provide a luxurious base for exploring the region's culinary delights and vineyards.

Families will also find an agriturismo or villa in the surrounding countryside to be an excellent choice. Many of these properties are spacious, offering multiple bedrooms, fully equipped kitchens, and outdoor areas for children to play.

When is the best time to go to Montefoscoli?

The best time to visit Montefoscoli is during the shoulder seasons of spring (April to June) and autumn (September to October).

These periods offer pleasant weather, ideal for exploring the Tuscan countryside, with warm days and cooler evenings. You'll find fewer crowds compared to the peak summer months, allowing for a more relaxed experience at popular attractions and local restaurants. The landscape is particularly beautiful in spring with blooming wildflowers and in autumn with the rich colours of the grape harvest.

Couples looking for a romantic getaway will appreciate the serene atmosphere and beautiful scenery during these months. It's great for leisurely drives through vineyards, wine-tasting tours, and enjoying alfresco dining without the intense summer heat or winter chill.

For those interested in local festivals and food, autumn is especially rewarding. Many villages in Tuscany celebrate the olive harvest and truffle season, offering unique culinary experiences.
