"Old but serviceable "
Entrance to the hotel isn't immediately obvious. Take the West exit at Meguro station. Cross the street. Walk past the pachinko parlor (left side of path), some coffee and ramen shops and look hard for the hotel's sign (you might miss it). Take elevator on left side and the lobby is on 3F. Staff is not fluent in English but they try their best. Hotel is old (small elevator, no AC inside) and there are a lot of signs of wear in the room. The room is clean, it just can use a fresh coat of paint. The A/C and TV controls/interface are in Japanese so it takes some time to figure it out. There is no wifi in room so make sure to bring an ethernet adapter if you are a Macbook user. One thing that I found odd is that there is no telephone inside the room. No biggie until I got stuck inside the room because of a door stop malfunction. Luckily, my Japanese friend was with me and she called the lobby with her mobile phone. Otherwise, I would have been trapped inside the room with no way out until the cleaning crew noticed the next morning... A huge safety oversight in my view!

    Pocket Guide: Tokyo Meguro Hotels

Meguro is a residential district in southwest Tokyo. The Meguro River gives the district its name, and in May you can find families picnicking under the cherry trees that line its banks. September sees a festival celebrating the local delicacy, a fish called samna. Those with strong constitutions should check out the 8.8 meter tapeworm on display at the Meguro Parasitological Museum.
