"Given the age of the property I’d say it’s fairly clean and tidy. Breakfast choices were okay, could do with more selection. The dining menu was not too bad, though was slightly disappointed with the duck dish I had for dinner service. The spa was nice, again it could do with a freshen up look as most items felt well used. Otherwise it’s been a pleasant stay."

"Really pleasant and helpful staff. Great breakfast and very helpful when enquiring about gluten free options. Great price for our stay. However, the hotel has seen better days. In need of a refurbishment. Tired fixings and fittings. The worst was the mattress. Well past its life. Although clean, it provided no support at all. The springs are so weak, I felt the hard bed base through the mattress. The bathroom sink plug didn't hold water. Bathroom light was so dim as was the shaving mirror, I had to use my phone's torch to shave. The TV remote was not compatible with the TV in the room and did not work. TV in need of updates, which require the proper remote. Channels available were very limited. The TV was difficult to operate with no remote and one function button on the TV itself. This could be a beautiful hotel if it received the proper maintenance and updated fittings and fixtures. New mattress urgently."

Cosy cottage with a touch of luxury

"It was a very peaceful spot set back from the road. The car wasn't parked on site but finding a spot on the road was easy and walking up to the cottage was guided with directions very clearly explained with photos by the host. The cottage was very secluded, clean and well equipped with a very detailed guide available to both the facilities and places to go in the area. Comfy bed, great shower, cosy lounge. My partner has had a stroke and walks with a stick but was able to cover the distance from the road, but there aren't any railings and it's a short distance uphill and downhill so worth thinking about if you do have mobility issues as it would've been too hard for him six months ago. I would definitely recommend this cottage as a restful retreat from which to explore the area."

"We stayed in one of the shepherds’ huts and it was fantastic - beautiful hot shower, really useful kitchen facilities and perfect accommodation for 2 adults and 2 teenagers. The staff were all so welcoming and the light breakfast in the dining room the next morning of toast and cereal with fresh filter coffee, tea and juice was just enough to set us up for the day. Would highly recommend!"
