A lovely Hotel

The hotel was spotless staff were very polite and friendly . The bedroom was larger than other hotels bedrooms that I have stayed at in London . The food was excellent and not expensive. A very nice hotel .

Tiny room. 1 tube ride to downtown. Great staff. Expensive breakfast. Instead, go to Barbican restaurant across the street

Nice enough, but poor sound proofing between rooms

The hotel was perfectly fine, except that I could clearly hear the people talking in the next room, and they weren't talking loudly either. They need to fix this problem.

Very good, a long walk from the station, staff very inviting, pool a little dated and jacuzzi was broken.

It is a nice hotel. And the location was quiet and good. Reception staff needs a bit more experience.

Despite the Hotel looking very slightly tired we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Our room was clean and warm with little noise. The staff were all very friendly and obliging. We enjoyed using the swimming pool, sauna and steam room. Unfortunately on the second day, the jacuzzi wasn't working. We enjoyed a nice drink in the comfortable bar and found we were a short walk from the places we wished to visit. If we can get a good deal like we did this time, we would definitely stay there again.

Well-located, but showing signs of age

The hotel is very well located for work in the City, Shoreditch, Clerkenwell, etc. and I secured a cracking rate on the sizeable twin room, so was pleased by that. I also booked it to take advantage of the swimming pool (but then forgot to bring my trunks, so failed miserably on that score). What let the hotel down though, was the fact that the double-glazing had failed, letting in a rather chilly draft that even turning the heating up to full could not dispel. It was difficult to stay warm working at the desk in the room, as a result. The other thing that made working there difficult was the patchiness and unreliability of the WiFi - I was regularly disconnected, which was quite frustrating, and the speed was generally pretty slow - even just for email (I didn't even bother trying to watch videos or anything requiring more bandwidth). What bothers me most, however. was that I was charged twice for the room, once by hotels.com, and once by the hotel itself (which I only discovered after checking out), which more than negated the attractive deal. This is currently with hotels.com to sort out, so their reputation stands or falls in my eyes on how they deal with this. Until it is, I'll be avoiding this particular hotel in case this happens again.
