Unfortunately myself and my husband did not have the stay we were hoping for. We were staying for 2 nights for recuperation following an operation i had had the day previously. We had booked a 'deluxe' room but there was nothing deluxe about it, it was like a box room at the back of the hotel. On arrival we were taken through what looked liked the staffs rest room, they were all sat eating their dinner watching my husband and I walk past. During the early hours of the first night we were woken and kept awake by noisy guests, in the end i had to complain to reception and we were moved to another room further down the corridor, the room was slightly bigger but when the window was open, as it was the ground floor, staff were walking back and to past shouting and smoking, with the smell coming through. On waking that morning we decided to leave the hotel as i was unable to rest. When i explained what had happned to the manager and requested a refund for my 2nd night, he declined which was a considerable amount of money.l to lose. I wouldn't stay here again, it wasn't worth the money we spent. I regret now not staying in a local premier inn as it would of been more comfortable, cheaper and much more accomdating. Very disappointing stay.

I am sure this hotel was once a 5* hotel but it is pretty far from that now. I last stayed in a Montcalm in 2015 ( I was a very regular Montcalm guest across all the London properties) and it appears that the hotel has not been updated in any way since. The furniture is chipped, broken and worn out. The bathroom is broken (broken tiles, chipped bath, electrics not working) and filthy (Mouldy, covered in limescale, and in some cases not cleaned at all such as leaving behind the last occupants used bar of soap). Really very disappointing. Still advertised as 5* but I suspect this hasn't lived up to that star rating for several years.
