An Excellent Hotel at the Heart of London

Posted 25-Jul-2016
Great location! Right across the street from the tube. Also, five minutes walk to Parliament Square or St. James Park. The staff are very friendly and room is super clean. Definitely will stay in this place next time.

Nice facilities but A/C not working & poor service

Posted 21-Jul-2016
Pros: Nice rooms, good cleanliness
Cons: A/C not working; two of my personal belongings misplaced (and never returned) while I was moved in my absence; two of front desk staff discourteous
Location: Close to Parliament Square, Westminster Abbey
I stayed at the Conrad St James London for four nights in July 2016. The hotel facilities were nice, modern and in good condition. However, I soon realized there was no working thermostat and A/C in my room and the room was warm in peak London summer. I immediately complained and they told me their A/C for part of the hotel was not working but it would be fixed soon. However, it was not fixed for my entire 4-day stay resulting in sweaty, sleepless nights! When I requested them to move me to a different room, I was told none was available. Only on the 3rd day of my 4-day stay, I was moved to a different room with a working A/C. However, I was moved in my absence while I was away and two of my items were misplaced during the move. Upon my return to the room, I noticed this immediately and reported the missing items. Despite multiple reminders, they were never recovered or returned to me. Finally, at my request, I was granted a complimentary late checkout until 2:45pm. When I checked out at that time, they told me they were going to charge me GBP 300 for the delay, which was (i) incorrect because they had given me a complimentary late checkout, and (ii) a lot more than I had paid for each of my nights! This was unfair and unreasonable and when I questioned it, the staff was showed lack of courtesy and professionalism. So, overall, a very disappointing experience. The staff was clearly under stress as the hotel was close to capacity but that does not justify their poor service.

Excellent hotel in the heart of London!

Posted 14-Jul-2016
Pros: I liked the location, the professionalism of the staff and the attractive modern and comfortable amenities.
Location: Located near the Parliament, Buckingham palace and St James Park it is within easy walking distance of all major attractions as well as Soho.
I really loved this hotel. The staff was extremely courteous and helpful. They truly went above and beyond at every opportunity, anticipating our needs. The facilities are modern, clean and the rooms are extremely comfortable and nicely decorated. One of the best hotels I have stayed in. In addition it is extremely well situated whether you wish to sight see, shop or do business. The lobby is elegant and spacious. A marvelous stay. I highly recommend it.

London Stay

Posted 10-Jul-2016
Stayed 7 nights. The hotel was clean, quiet and the service was top notch. The access to Westminster, Buckingham Palace, St. James Park, etc. make this the perfect hotel. Tube is right across the street and major bus lines are 2 blocks away.

Great hotel in a great location!

Posted 05-Jul-2016
Pros: I loved the close proximity to the underground, sights and the appearance of the hotel was clean and welcoming.
Cons: The hotel needs to install a raised lip to the shower stall due to the fact that water easily escapes under the shower stall door onto the floor.
Location: Great location with Buckingham Palace, Big Ben, Churchill war room and Westminster Abby all within close walking distance.
We booked this hotel last minute and stayed in the king deluxe room for a three night stay. The room was small but very clean and the bathroom had a waterfall shower head which was a nice touch although water from the shower stall did make its way out onto the floor so we had to be careful. The bed was extremely comfortable and the room was quiet. I did place my suitcase in the bathroom because of limited room in the actual room but if you are used to traveling in Europe the room is big by those standards. The hotel is literally right across the street from the underground (St. James) which we used to get around and the underground is a very inexpensive option to use to get to and from Heathrow airport which I believe cost us less then $10.00 per person to get to the hotel and we avoided any London traffic which can be pretty bad. Purchase an Oyster card at the station and reload it when you need to. You can walk to so many sights from this hotel and every person that we encountered was extremely helpful with any questions we had. We didn't eat at the hotel as we wanted to grab something along our walks and visit off the beaten path restaurants. There is a Starbucks right across street and many other local coffee shops and healthy food options very close to hotel. We had a late flight and were able to keep our bags at the hotel while we continued to sight-see with no problem. I would stay here again in a minute and was really please with our choice of this hotel.

Inconsistent service

Posted 21-Jun-2016
Pros: room was nice.
Cons: service quality and decor in restaurant. lighting in restaurant. why aren't there any windows?
Location: close to buckingham palace and park which is nice but had to spot dining options nearby.
Hotel rooms are nice but the service is inconsistent. One day I got turn-down service; the next I didn't. The restaurant was also very inconsistent. One day I got mignardise; the next day I wasn't even given bread. One day the waiter brought me a glass of wine from the kitchen; the other day the waiter poured the glass from the bottle at my table and let me taste it. Breakfast eggs were either overcooked or perfect. coffee was either too cold or too strong or just right.

Fantastic hotel

This is a fantastic hotel. Lovely and clean and the staff couldn't do more. Don't be scared by the price, you pay for quality. Well placed near lots of great landmarks and a tube station and taxi rank directly opposite the hotel.

Wonderful

Posted 03-Jun-2016
Pros: The room, the staff, the location.
Cons: Scrambled eggs at the breakfast buffet were terrible, super runny and bland. The food at the Blue Boar is also overpriced and not especially good.
Location: Right in the heart of London, near everything.
I had an awesome stay here. Location is perfect, 5 minute walk from Parliament Square, right next to a metro line. The hotel is beautifully decorated with great original art. The staff is super friendly and helpful. I got a wonderfully warm reception at check-in, and ten minutes later I was surprised with a complimentary bottle of champagne to celebrate my birthday. Totally unexpected, very well-received. Breakfast was awesome, the attendant we had was extremely polite, almost motherly in how she took care of me. Room service staff also awesome, I wanted chai tea one night but it wasn't on the menu. The attendant assured me that he had all the necessary ingredients and would try to make it for me anyway. The tea turned out to be absolutely delicious and I ordered it every night of my stay. The room was spacious, well-decorated, with a huge bathtub that I could actually stretch out in and enjoy a nice hot relaxing bath. I'm totally staying here again next time I visit London!

Wish I could give it 100 Stars!!

Posted 03-Jun-2016
Pros: Absolutely everything, except the room service for dinner.
Cons: The room service. We ordered twice, the first time was really good. The second time one of the meals was cold.
Location: It is close to everything but beware, in London things close earlier than they do in the states so many of the stores nearby closed at 7.
In the heart of London equidistant from Buckingham Palace and Big Ben and right across from the St James Underground Station! This hotel far exceeded our expectations. The complimentary breakfast was AMAZING, the very best waffles ever!! The staff was wonderful and would leave treats every so often in our room when they would clean or come in and do turn down service. The concierge staff was the BEST!!! Shout out to Christian and Tom!! They were both so very helpful in suggesting restaurants and which trains, etc to take to get around. And it was so clean, I am a clean fanatic and it actual met my standards, felt very comfortable there!! I would recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a great place to stay in London!!
