Luxury Barn nr. Michelin star pub and lake. Ideal Base for Hay, Ludlow,Hereford

Family-friendly cottage in Kington

The Barn at Titley, graded 5 star by Visit England standards, is a stunning Grade 2 listed modern barn conversion with beautiful oak and slate floors and an abundance of ancient oak beams. Situated in a pretty village with a gastro-pub with a history of Michelin stars and a nature reserve, it provides a great base for Hay-on-Wye, Ludlow and Hereford . Stylishly furnished in boutique-hotel style, it blends both the traditional and the contemporary and provides a relaxing base for those seeking a tranquil setting for their holiday. It is ideally based for Hay-on-Wye, Ludlow, Hereford, the lovely Wye Valley and the Brecon Beacons. FREE Wifi and Welcome pack are provided.

The open-plan living area has a dramatic vaulted ceiling with gallery overlooking it. The sofa is Làura Ashley with lamps by Oka. The flooring is pale oak with underfloor heating to keep you cosy in the cooler months. The dining area seats up to 6. The bespoke sycamore kitchen is very well equipped with professional pans, food processor and Sophie Conran china. and we provide cookery books for a little inspiration. This is a sociable space and the cook won't miss out on any of the action. Overlooking the courtyard you will see the house martins and other birds flit around the barns as you cook.

Both bedrooms have four-poster beds - traditional and contemporary - with crisp white linen. Goose down duvets mean you will be cosy in the cooler months. The main, compact, king-size bedroom has an en-suite bathroom (bath with shower over) lined with travertine tiles. The second double room has a wet room with a great power shower. (Please note the space at the bottom of the bed needs a little negotiating to access the shower!). There is a separate cloakroom in the hall so guests in both bedrooms can have their own facilities.

There are two seating areas - our private garden to the front of the house with a patio and lawned area. This overlooks hills and forests and catches the evening sun so is perfect for suppers al fresco with a view. There is seating for 4. To the rear is the shared courtyard which is a sun-trap and decorated with plants and shrubs. We have a table and chairs for 4 and a BBQ. It is lovely for breakfasts outdoors and morning coffee. You can sit here on a warm day and listen to the gentle creaking of the barns.

There is parking for one car immediately in front of the barn and parking for additional cars in the Visitors car park.

There is a hidden gem of a nature reserve with glacial pools just down the lane where you can walk or picnic in the meadows (we provide a picnic basket and rug) full of wild-flowers or watch the rich bird-life from the hide overlooking the lake. The Stagg with its long history of Michelin stars is just around the corner so you can be assured of an excellent meal - or you can just call in for a drink and chat with the locals. Be sure to book as it is very popular!

The barn is our own holiday home and furnished and equipped to a high standard and we hope our guests will appreciate all the little touches we have made to ensure a very comfortable holiday.

Canoeing, kayaking and stand-up paddle-boarding are available at Whitney-on-Wye near Hay.

5/5 Excellent

Family break
Very helpful owners, a lovely quiet house and beautiful location.

5/5 Excellent

Perfect holiday location
We loved staying in Bushel Barn - peaceful countryside location in the charming village of Titley. Cosy, comfortable and very well equipped, the property was everything we could have hoped for. We had a really relaxing week exploring the area and will definitely be back!

4/5 Good

All fine, smaller than we were thinking it would be but not a problem.

5/5 Excellent

Country comfort
Our first holiday since lockdown and it was lovely. The COVID precautions were clear and reassuring. We enjoyed the comfort of the barn, its peaceful surroundings and being able to walk from the property (to Titley Nature Reserve and to Kington). Kington (the nearest town) had a good range of shops and cafés, including an excellent pie shop and a great country market (every Friday). Highly recommended!

5/5 Excellent

New Year Break
Beautiful Property and well equipped.
