Good location

Posted 21-Mar-2016
Pros: Very welcoming with a pet
Cons: Nothing
A very welcoming proprietor one could not ask for a better place to stay, we have a large dog and that did not seem to phase him at all, If we needed to stay in Dover again I would not hesitate to book there, also to recommend it to any other person.

impromptu overnight stay

Posted 23-Feb-2016 on Hotels
This was an impromptu overnight stay to escape building work at home. I found Crabble house on-line and was attracted to it mainly for the price. We found it to be cosy and welcoming with a fantastic host, Gary, who cooks a mean breakfast. Unfortunately the weather was less welcoming so we did not get to visit the local sights properly but there are some great bars and restaurants in town, a drive/taxi ride away.

No call to tell me they cancelled my booking

Posted 24-Aug-2015
Cons: The service
I never got as far as experiencing the stay because when I arrived I was told they had to cancel my reservation due to a flood: it would have been nice if I could have been contacted directly since they had my telephone number but didn't occur to them to call me. Instead I had to drive around for 90 mins before I ended up in a dive of a hotel in Folkestone. Worst start to my holiday ever.

Stop to see the Cliffs

Very nice property, excellent food, good host. Like other British B & B's beds are very small, even the "King" beds.

Ideal for a pre continent trip.

Posted 05-Jul-2015
Pros: The warm welcome, the style of the property and the breakfast.
Cons: The owner is steadily renovating the lack of maintenance by the previous owners but all the major work has been done.
Location: Dover Castle is a must if you have not been before. This is a busy road during the day but quietens at night. The Railway Bell 200 yards left.
This B&B is located in a large 1930s residence originally built by a local builder as his family home to a very high standard which it still retains. This is purely B&B, there are no evening meal facilities, but breakfast will take you right through the day, if you so desire. The breakfast menu is wide ranging and if you would like it for breakfast it is probably included. We stayed for 2 nights prior to a holiday in France and it was an ideal base to visit the Dover area. Dover Castle is a must if you have not been before. 2 words of caution. 1. Satnavs have a nasty tendency to take you to 35 London Road, Dover, rather than 35 London Road, River, where this B&B is. 2. You can pay on line by credit card but not at the hotel. Any extras above the booking must be paid by cash or cheque.
