"The staff was so helpful and so funny! The room was well small-ish but perfectly comfortable and the window opened for a nice breeze in the evening. The meals were very nice and the location/surroundings are beautiful!"

Stayed over Easter weekend. Arrived Friday night and was greeted by one of the owners, Bonnie.
We have a double room, well sized with lots of storage. Bed was soft and good for a few nights with been uncomfortable. Ensuite was good as well and the showers hot. All rooms look to come with a TV (limited to ITV and C4 channels only) and welcome book with the WiFi information (good for streaming)

We were greeted by Victor, very friendly and welcoming, who showed us to our room, a small double but very clean and perfectly adequate for an overnight stay. We had a lovely view of Todd Crag which we were climbing the next day.
Breakfast was amazing, a good selection of cereal, yoghurt, fruit and even cakes! My husband had the full English and I chose the smashed avocado on toast with poached egg. We were served by friendly and efficient Joanna who took the trouble to remember our names!

The Phesant Inn was a wonderful place to stay. The breakfast was superb with an excellent choice. The staff were polite and attentive. Room 11 offered us a king bed with an excellent view.

As soon as we arrived Trevor came to the door to welcome up, he was really enthusastic and gave us as much information as he could! They’d had a cancellation so he also upgraded us for free. The room was amazing and had little extras, like tea, coffee, hit chocolate pouches if you wanted to make a drink. We were only there for two days and so wished we’d booked longer, can’t explain how much we loved it

This is a great B&B and I thoroughly recommend it. It’s a central location and the parking permit is an added bonus. It makes a great base for exploring Ambleside or the wider Lake District.

We stayed in this lovely guest house for two nights as we were attending a family funeral. We arrived at about 3pm on the first day and were greeted by a lovely lady who explained where everything was and showed us to our room. We had a king room which was absolutely huge, with a massive, very comfortable bed, a large and comfy sofa, a large bathroom with an excellent shower and a really big TV on a rotating wall bracket (to make it watchable from anywhere in the room). The weather was terrible but Matthew and Lucy more than made up for the lack of sunshine with their friendliness. Elder Grove is one of the nicest places we’ve stayed in and would highly recommend it to others. They provided a hearty breakfast and were more than happy to cater for everyone’s likes and dislikes. Many thanks! Very happy!

Excellent rooms (all 3 rooms in our party were Superior roons & all we excellent), lovely breakfasts & friendly helpful sraff.
The only negatives were the hand wash did not work & despite leaving the top off it was not replaced . Also the tea/coffee was not replaced after use ub

After a long day walking, checking into The Churchill was quick. Great parking, near to pubs and restaurants and a great bar. Service was good and breakfast was excellent. Spacious room, clean and comfortable. Really good value for money. Would definitely stay again.

Recently refurbished old coaching inn. We stayed two nights and the location, rooms and food are excellent. It would make an ideal place to explore the Dales, like us, or the Lake District. Staff are very friendly and helpful, quality place to stay, though not cheap. Not a chain hotel, so personal service seems paramount here.
Just a bit of info about the car park though. It's accessed by a very narrow alley which is hard to get through. If you have a very big car, you may find it easier to...
