I LOVED the Sheraton Kagoshima and wish we'd stayed here for more than one night. I booked an overnight stay in the city on the way back from Yakushima island. I wasn't expecting too much but absolutely fell in love with this hotel.
Everything about it was excellent. The staff are spectacular throughout - charming, friendly, helpful and upbeat - also clearly proud of the hotel. The hotel itself is brand new, impeccably designed, super stylish and one of the most user-friendly properties I've...

Wonderful front of house staff, who were so helpful to me when I made a mistake with the bill. They are so kind. Rooms were really clean and ideal location.

Good Japanese business hotel a few tram stops from Kagoshima station in easy walking distance to the ferry to Sakurajima - and good to know that it’s designated as a Tsunami-shelter venue too !

Great hotel and in the middle of where you need to be. Walking distance to the ferry to go to Sakurajima Volcano and also walking distance to Kagoshima Chuo Station

Whilst the hotel is a little dated it was clean and the staff very helpful. A good base hotel for exploring the local area and taking a trip to Yakushima via the local ferry a couple km's away.

Lovely hotel, super friendly staff. Had a room on 13th floor with a view. Breakfast good with plenty of choice and good value. Hotel well located for trams, eating out, shopping and sightseeing.
Would recommend.

Been here twice. Still good as before. Nice Japanese breakfast, nice onsen. There are 4 breakfast plans so ask reception for details. Outdoor onsen was under renovation. It can be noisy from fellow guests since the door wasn't sealed well.

The room could have been cleaner, particularly the bathroom. We had no view but stayed for two nights so it wasn’t a massive problem. Not great amount of space but any longer stay than 2 days would have been a bit tight. Bed and the pillows were very comfortable. Check in and check out fairly quick.

Which area of Kagoshima, Kagoshima Prefecture, Japan is best to stay in for convenient parking?
For convenient parking in Kagoshima City, the Chuo / Kagoshima-Chuo Station area stands out as the prime choice. This central hub is much-loved for its hotels that frequently highlight ample parking facilities, alongside excellent access to public transport and major thoroughfares.
Should your travel plans prioritise parking above all else, especially for car-based exploration, consider options slightly further afield or hotels explicitly advertising on-site parking. While the Sakurajima / waterfront side offers parking, it's generally less convenient for broader city exploration compared to the central Kagoshima-Chuo area.
For those who value both ease of parking and access to the city's highlights, the Kagoshima-Chuo Station / Chuo area remains the best overall choice.
