No internet…..stayed here at least 5 times and each time the internet has been poor but this time absolutely NON existent in the room

We found the general upkeep of the room very poor. The paintwork needs attention as does the carpet cleanliness. Chipped paint on walls and furniture. Staff were very efficient and friendly. The food, breakfast was excellent.

The location was so relaxing and peaceful. The facilities were great and with the spa facilities everything was available. The only reason I have given 4 stars on certain areas is that the occasional area could do with a lick of paint. We really enjoyed the place and would recommend

Ideal for two nights work trip.
Two nights staying during the week for a work meeting. It was okay, a little tired in places but the staff were friendly and helpful and the room was clean. It is a bit dated and tired looking but served its purpose. The bed was okay. Pool area was nice and well maintained.

Lovely room but….
Reception staff were lovely, room very spacious, clean and with a large tv, which came in handy as our planned trip to Belton House was cancelled at the last minute. Bathroom was beautiful but unfortunately quite cold as the towel rail would not heat up. Bar prices were very expensive!

Very pleasant
A very pleasant hotel. The room was very spacious, comfortable and warm with a gigantic bed! A lovely big bathroom with both a bath and separate, very large shower. The food in the bar was really good and the bar staff very friendly. Breakfast was buffet style and lots of choice. Everyone I met at the hotel was very friendly.

Good stopover
Slightly dated but all clean and comfortable- easily accessible from A1 plenty parking Rooms good sized and bathroom shower only but hot and powerful Restaurant a little pricey -£28 for sirloin and chips but was quick and tasted great! Excellent breakfast

The hotel is in the middle of nowhere but it was not far from Isaac Newtons home. The hotel had a great pub and restaurant, all meals were great, which was handy because not much around. My room was huge and well appointed. A gem in the middle of farm land.

Overall good. Check in staff very slow. Bar area very nice. Staff in the bar were amazing. Good range of bar food. Restaurant was closed due to a function. Room was good, bathroom showing signs of age, but clean. Beds very comfortable. Pool area was good, clean, mens changing very aged, could do with a spruce! Overall nice stay, would definitely return.

Excellent room with a good view. You could smell chlorine on the way because of the pool below, but it was OK once you were in the room. A few tatty edges( cracked wash basin) but adequate standard. Dinner was good in parts and acceptable overall. Great service in the restaurant. But reception staff really need to smile more!

Tired with poor customer service 😞
A truly awful stay for me, checkin fine, room tired, but ok, opted for superior rather than standard… dread to think what standard is like. I never do reviews, I am a business traveler- I have stayed in worse, it was the bar staff that set me off, very very unhelpful no concept of customer service. It got worse but I literally can’t be arsed to comment further, suffice to say this hotel was tired, over priced, out dated, not very clean, crap shower - no temp control, & overall a very unsatisfactory experience for a very experienced business traveler x

Could do better!
The first thing i must say is that the staff were lovely. Check-in wasn't brilliant - my record didn't show breakfast paid for and we'd been given twin beds instead of a double. That was speedily sorted out, with a lovely lady fixing beds together and changing our bedding within minutes. It was disappointing that the shower had no pressure- my husband lathered up and couldn't get enough of a trickle to wash it off! We ended up having baths, not eco-friendly or what we like. The biggest beef was that, because they had a private event on at the hotel on Saturday, they were totally overwhelmed and had to stop taking food orders from residents. After a long day out we just wanted to eat-in and relax but this wasn't possible unless we were prepared for a long wait for them to open the kitchen to us. Luckily we found a fantastic pub in the nearby village, but we hadn't wanted to drive again and i think its unacceptable that residents get such low priority when there is an event on. Forward planning should have avoided that situation.

Arrived on time to check in hut told our room wasn't ready and were pointed in the direction where to wait. 40 minutes later I went back to reception and was again pointed the direction of our room. No one knew where the bag trolley was so we had to manoeuvre our 2 large suitcases & hand luggage through hallways, swing doors past a room that looked like an old asylum to finally get to our room. What a horrible shock that was! Old, cold and damp. The curtains were too small for the window, the bathroom was a disgrace. It was a disability bathroom that was freezing cold, very low toilet and basin. Large stains on the floor and looked like a torture chamber. Spoke to reception and they couldn't care less by their reaction. The kitchen staff and waitresses were all lovely and very helpful as were the bar staff.
