"I enjoy my stay at the Golden Lion. The food is good and the staff are helpful. The room was clean but found the ensuite rather tight for space especially with the step to the shower."

We stayed one night at the Victorian house as we had planned a last minute visit to the lakes due to particularly good weather forecast for this time of year.
The staff were very welcoming; the room was as described ‘cosy’ and furnished beautifully. The breakfast was of a high standard with plenty of choice.
We would definitely look to stay again, especially as it was such good value for money and right in the centre of the village.

A lovely peaceful property with easy access to Ambleside and walks over to Rydal. A brilliant breakfast and the hotel itself was so clean. We would love to return soon

Stayed for 3 nights (1st week Feb) and had a great, relaxing break. The type of hotel is in the name, "The Lodge...", and the rooms are spacious, comfortable and has a large television with all the Freesat Channels. I mainly used it as a base for when I went walking, but the snowfall on the first morning put a slight dent into my plans.
The staff are excellent and very friendly, and I will definitely return sometime soon.
