Superb! Hotel staff is A ! Location is perfect, walkable to all must see in Florence. Clean. Staff were very nice, accommodating and helpful. Will come back here.

Loved it!
This is my absolute favorite hotel I've ever been to. I've now stayed twice at the Hotel dei Macchiaioli and I'll never stay anywhere else in Florence! The service is outstanding, the location is central, breakfast is always great, and the room is excellent. Overall, I would highly recommend it for anyone wanting to be close to the Duomo in Florence.

The best about this hotel is the location. Breakfast pretty basic, no fruits at all. Staff is pretty friendly. Bathroom shower is tiny as most showers in Europe.

Excellent location, good value, friendly staff. Other than the thin pillows, the room was comfortable. The bathroom was a little tight, but fine for the heart of Florence.

Great location
This hotel has a great location, only minutes walk from the station, Duomo and Acadaemia. Great restaurants nearby. Staff good and room sparking clean. Only negatives were the busy road (our room was at the front and very noisy day & night). The bathroom (across the hall) was so small that you had to sit diagonally on the toilet (we are tall but not overweight) and if you dropped the soap in the shower, you had to open the door of the shower cubicle to be able to bend over and pick it up!

This place was lovely, a true gem. The rooms were spacious and clean and there was art everywhere. The staff are more than curteous and helpful as well as speaking fantastic english - very useful if your Italian is a little lacklustre! The breakfast was brilliant, with the most wonderful art on the ceiling to admire as you enjoyed a morning cappuccino. Thank you for a wonderful trip!

A well positioned Ed hotel within 5 minutes of the Duomo and 10 minutes from the Ponte Vecchia. Very friendly and helpful staff.

Tricky to find, but nice quiet location.
It was hard to find! The actual doors to hotel are down a hallway combined with another hotel and Leonardo DaVinci museum. There is simply a gold plaque on the street with name of hotel on it. There are also 25 steps to front desk - no elevator. The front desk is always manned by a worker. Lorenzo was very helpful with places to eat or exchange $. Very clean and quiet, air-conditioned and basic breakfast - meat, cheese, bread, pastries, hard boiled eggs, the usual. No fresh fruit. The location was great. Short walk to Duomo area and @10-12 min. to train station. Nothing is very far.

The hotel staff are welcoming, pleasant, helpful and fluent in English. The location is ideal— close to the major attractions. Breakfast is held in a large, beautifully appointed, elegant room. US hotels should do half as well with their self-serve breakfast rooms. Excellent in every way.

Good location. Quiet room in the back. Only problem with room was two dangerous poorly marked steps down to bathroom. Sink, shower stall were not up to standard and price of the room. Excellent breakfast. Personal service was welcome.

Great location. Very friendly staff. Room was as pictured and nice sized. Enjoyed the beautiful breakfast room and the neighborhood. Ten minute walk from train station and museums. Nice coffee and light breakfast with yogurt, cereal, bread, meats and cheeses. Bed is firm. Shower had rain shower but small.

It’s a palace - literally! The property dates back to the mid 19th century when it housed a wealthy family. Many of the rooms still have the decorative ceilings and rich appointments. It’ll located on the busy Via Cavour, one of Florence’s main streets. There’s a grocery store directly across the street and many of the city’s major sites are only minutes away. Shops and restaurants surround the location. We had a room overlooking the Via Cavour and it was REALLY noisy. Earplugs are a must, which helped cut the noise significantly.

The location of the hotel is good. The staff were helpful and very pleasant. The breakfast was just ok. There isn't anyone to cook eggs or meats. But there are protein options such as hard boiled eggs and cold meats and cheeses.

Staff was very friendly and extremely helpful and the location was great. Wifi did not reach the room we were staying in and the beds left a bit to be desired - super hard and very flat pillows - that is why we rated it a 4 overall. The breakfast room was very nice.

Amazing location- 3 mins to the duomo. Fantastic room and staff. Breakfast room was beautiful yet choice was small. Beware of city tax added when leaving at all hotels.

Excellent 5 night stay in this hotel which is within walking distance (for two reasonably fit 70+ year olds) of all the “must see and do” treasures of Florence. Staff very helpful pleasant and friendly. Great breakfast each morning. Note: no lift to the reception desk. Comfortable bed, clean well serviced rooms. Good value for money. Highly recommend. The hotel is in a great location, we were able to walk to all of the sites in Florence. We also walked to and from the train station. The staff is very pleasant and the breakfast was great.

Perfect location very near to the Duomo, shopping, and restaurants. Staff carried our bags up the steps to reception where we were warmly welcomed. Our room was large, comfortable and most importantly quiet at night. During breakfast, the staff made cappuccinos to order. Be sure to glance up while in the public rooms to see the exquisite painted ceilings.

The hotel was a nice find. We had no issues. The hotel is located a block or two from much of the attractions. It was a tad bit difficult to find. It shares an entrance with two other hotels and the DaVinci museum. The breakfast was decent and nicely included with our hotel stay.

There was no elevator from the ground floor up to the entrance of the hotel which was a pain with all of our luggage. The desk staff was friendly and helpful. Breakfast was ample and delicious. The breakfast room was beautiful. The WiFi was VERY slow to almost non-existent. The location to all of the old city attractions was perfect!

We had a problem with the aircodition that was not working properly and it was 35 degrees in Florence those days. Additionally, there were lots of stairs and no lift. That was uncomfortable. Finally, the WiFi was very poor.

I stayed here for three nights with my brother. The staff were very helpful and friendly. Everything was clean. Breakfast was included and was very good with many options. The hotel is in a great location, just minutes from the Duomo. My only complaint is that I wish the air conditioning worked a little better. Otherwise, it’s a very good option and I would stay there again.

Awesome place! But be aware of the stairs.
Our stay started out wonderful. The staff is exceptional. BUT beware! The only way in and out of the hotel are stairs without railings to hold onto. We knew there wasn’t an elevator, and were ok with that. But my mother fell and broke her foot. There is nothing to hold onto walking down the beautiful steps. The staff was extremely helpful getting us the help we needed, BUT the owner needs to invest in hand railings in our opinion.

We enjoyed our stay at Hotel dei Macchiaoli because of its location near to the many historical sites of Florence. Breakfast was well done, and the owner and other people working there were very friendly, especially Paolo. Roman was pleasant and a very hard worker.

Great Staff and Location
Overall I enjoyed my stay and I would stay again. Pros: 1. Location is perfect walking distance to everything 2. All the staff was very friendly and helpful (spoke english) 3. Parking avail. (Park on street in front of hotel and when you check in they will have someone park your car for you at a nearby parking garage) 4. Free Breakfast Cons: 1. Hard to sleep. You can hear the street noise very easy from the room and the pillows are very thin almost like no pillow at all. 2. Hotel was a little hard to find. Google Maps GPS took us to the correct spot but even though we were standing right in front of the hotel it wasnt clearly marked.
