Nestled in a welcoming small-town setting, Ferryhill serves as the perfect base for exploring nearby Windlestone Hall Country Park and scenic Hardwick Park. Take a short drive to the National Railway Museum at Shildon or spend a refreshing day at Seaton Carew Beach when the weather's fine.
The rooms are excellent. Lovely and clean. Food in the restaurant is nothing short of amazing. I can recommend the steak and kidney pudding. Best I have ever tasted

Lovely, spacious and comfortable room with en suite bathroom. Spotlessly clean. Friendly and helpful staff. Plenty of parking spaces. Excellent location for exploring the area. Easy, short journey into Durham city.

Had a really lovely night's stay. The bed was really comfy, the room was clean and well equipped, the staff were friendly and helpful. The food was good pub food with massive portions and very reasonable. Breakfast was delicious. The hotel is peaceful and in a lovely setting right opposite a beautiful old church.

Easy to find from main roads. After driving for 4 hours through the rain I was pleased to arrive at my destination. The hotel appeared a bright, happy star on the rainy horizon.
The reception area welcomed me with it's serene, peacefulness. Staff only too happy to come to my help late on a Sunday evening. My room was large, cleanly furnished with a vast bathroom that I could have had a party in. The room was comfortable and perfect for catching up on some late night desk work.

Fantastic, authentic castle with such history and higgledy piggledy corridors. It was our anniversary and we were welcomed with an anniversary card which was a nice touch. The staff were excellent. We only had breakfast which was delicious and staff were efficient and friendly. The food in the library looked good. We had a courtyard room and were very happy with it. If you're expecting modern, corporate decor it might not be for you but we liked it and so nice to stay in a castle with character....

Our stay at Walworth Castle Hotel was truly memorable, not just because of the stunning setting, but thanks to the incredible staff who went above and beyond to make us feel welcome.
Adrian, part of the breakfast team at the 1189 Kitchen & Bar, was friendly, attentive, and made sure we started each morning with a smile. The service was excellent, and his warm demeanor really stood out.
A special thank you to Mary at reception, who took the time—despite it being a busy period—to personally show...

The staff were very welcoming and helpful on arrival. The room was comfortable, clean and we slept very well.
The spa was nice to relax in and worth paying the extra £20 per person for as you could use it all day.
Breakfast was freshly cooked and they had gluten free toast ands croissants and the restaurant food was delicious with a good choice of gluten free options.

this is a great option for a visit to Durham if you are prepared to stay outside of the city. Best value for money I have experienced in a long time . Breakfast fantastic something you would pay in excess of £12 in other accommodation Sonia and the rest of her staff are very welcoming . There is only one place I will be staying should I visit the area in the future

lovely hotel, good food and a wonderful location. Woods just beyond the car park. DIdn't like the Internet connection though. It looked like I risked getting spam forever.
