The location is perfect. Bus stop for downtown Edinburgh is just up the street. A magnificent beach is across the street which you can access through small alleys between buildings. The staff are amazing and made us feel right at home. Shout out to Susan and Ewan!

Loved It !!
Room was small but beautifully finished, food was excellent , service spot on and hotel has secure on site parking. Good location for travelling into Edinburgh or for walking into Musselburgh with its good range of shops etc.

Lovely comfortable bed & room decorated to a high standard, there was a smell of paint so probably just been finished, shower was great, bathroom modern & very clean. All members of staff friendly, especially at breakfast as i am gluton free & our sever was helpful about the food & the area, all good would recommend.

Well placed for buses into Edinburgh, some good restaurants nearby. Musselburgh is a nice town and there are some interesting walks.

Unfortunately we chose a night where there was a very loud function in the hotel and there was thudding music until midnight and screaming children running up and down stairs. The shower had hair in. Alas when we arrived there’s no check in desk and had to wait a while for someone to give us keys.

We dont have a reception, we do ask all customers to go to the bar area and have a sign up at the front door requesting this

Hotel was easy to find and parking was good, plenty of space. Had to check in at the bar which was nit problem (arrived around 7.30pm for check in, bingo game ongoing, but no problem. We were giving the key at the bar and told where our room was. However, really really strong smell of fish in the bar area- assumed that someone had a bar meal there that was fish. Upon entering our room - noticed the same smell of fish. Immediately open both bedroom windows. We had to sleep with these windows open as the smell was still present if we closed them. We had the king size room to give us extra space - bedroom was clean but bedside lights a bit dusty. Bathroom good size, great shore and plenty of towels and shampoo, soap and shower gel was supplied. Loads of nice hot water in the morning for showers (quite often unless you get showered really early there is insufficient hot water), this was NOT the case here. Bed, a little soft for me, pillows a bit too firm, but everyone is different. Breakfast fantastic. Really nice breakfast staff- really friendly! Good choice if menu - both continental and cooked. Would have given an excellent review, if it was not for the strong fish smell.

I am sorry you had a fish smell, no one else has mentioned it on the day, we do apologies for this, there is a fish market at the back of the car garage across the road this is the only thing I can think off as the room you stayed in looks over there.

Cannot fault this lovely wee hotel. Friendly, efficient staff. Great deal for 3 course lunch. Comfortable beds, great shower & plenty of tea/coffee/milk in room. Only stayed one night as attending an event locally but would definitely stay longer next time.

We both enjoyed our stay, staff were very friendly helpful and welcoming. The only thing i didnt like was the fire exit sign in the bedroom, unfortunately I personally like a dark room. But I understand for health and safety the reason why its there. We will be looking into a break at the start on next year, so will look forward to returning to stay.

Great hotel
Hotel is conveniently located for travelling up to Edinburgh. The rooms are well appointed and comfortable. Excellent shower and bathroom. Food is good and excellent value for money. Will definitely book again when visiting family.

We loved staying here for two nights. The restaurant was good and reasonably priced and the hot breakfast served in the morning was also good. Room was small, but adequate for our needs and was clean and updated. Close to the Fisherow Harbor beach, grocery store and petrol across the street, close to shops and bus stop right out front.

I was looking for a convenient place to stay before flying out of Edinburgh and decided on Musselburgh. (Edinburgh is great but costly, and can be difficult to park). Anyway, Ravelston House offers a comfortable and modern room, on-site parking, a good bar and restaurant, and a friendly, efficient staff. Home run. My drive to the airport should be less than 30 minutes on Saturday morning.

A lovely stay
This is a lovely small hotel in Musselburgh. We had an overnight stay where everything was excellent. All staff were friendly, helpful and welcoming. We had a super breakfast included in the room price with a great choice. We also had a lovely two course evening meal and a few drinks in the bar. The room was clean and modern. Staff to be commended for being so lovely.

Really nice quiet place to stay, they don’t let you check in early but the staff was wonderful and the continental breakfast was perfect. A quick bus ride to get to the Royal Mile and lots of buses available. Highly recommend staying here.

1970’s Throughback eeek!
Hotel that is stuck in the past, kitchen closes at 7.45, get told to go down road to get takeaway then told I cant eat it on hotel grounds, breakfast doesnt start until 8, chef is too lazy to butter the toast for egg on toast, no receipt provided, no replacement toiletries, just awful, but not cheap either.

Thank you for taking the time to leave us a review. Unsure what is meant by the hotel is stuck in the past, as our hotel has been renovated recently as can be seen by our photos. Last orders for the kitchen is 7.45pm Sun- Thurs and 1 hour later on the weekends. The information is available on our website and in the bedroom information in the rooms. You would have been more than welcome to bring takeaway food into your bedroom but aren't allowed to eat it in public areas. Yes our breakfast does start at 8am although continental can be available earlier on request. I believe the issue with the butter may have been a misunderstanding as the server thought you had requested butter on the side. If you would let us know what receipt you would like we can certainly get that sent to you, although this could have been requested at anytime during your stay. We do have housekeeping servicing the rooms 7 days a week. Apologies if your toiletries were not replenished, if you had brought this to our attention we would have replaced them for you. Sorry you didn't feel you received value for money. If we can be of any further assistance please do not hesitate to get in touch.Thanks

Room was good. Reasonable size. Shower a bit small and awkward. No air conditioning so had to leave window open so was awakened a few times with coming and goings plus noise from road. Breakfasts were very good. Check out at ten is a bit early as they serve breakfast until 11.

We dont have air conditioning in any of our rooms. Glad to hear you enjoyed breakfast, breakfast is served until 11.30am for customers not staying with us also. Check out is 10am to ensure the house keeper has enough time to clean all 7 rooms before our new guests check in, I hope that helps explain the timinngs.

Very clean, comfortable, and well presented. I didn't have breakfast as it was served 8am-11am which is too late for me when I need to be in the office for 9am and get through Leith traffic, but there's a kettle and coffee and tea sachets in the room which is good. Express check-out was handy.

Hidden Gem
Great bedroom looks newly refurbished with a stylish decor and a spotlessly clean bathroom with great shower. Hadn’t really appreciated that Ravelston House is really a pub restaurant with a few rooms above. It was an Easter Sunday when we stayed and I would say the place was really busy and quite noisy with the sound easily heard in the bedroom. Later in the evening it did quieten down and so didn’t disturb us when we were actually heading to bed.
