I reserved it.. why bother to offer room types if you don’t honour them? The bed was the worst I have ever slept on. The springs were poking into our backs and the mattress was so worn out it was awful. It’s ok for a quick stay but I wouldn’t return for more than one night. I have absolutely zero complaints about the room or property. We stayed on the new side of the property and the decor was very fitting for the resort. For the food, all restaurants are buffet style, which was kind of a bummer because you can find all the specialty restaurant food in the main buffet throughout your stay The steakhouse is table service and takes reservations but it felt very rushed to get through the courses The pools are a massive highlight and honestly so refreshing to be in. There are tables and seating in the pools with the swim up bars, it never took long to wait for a drink, and the cocktails were fruity and delicious. There are plenty of beach activities to look into, the sand is volcanic and hot so definitely wear shoes! If you walk down the beach a bit, there is an off property bar and TONS of monkeys on the way If you don't book through the property and use expedia, you do not get airport transportation included in your reservation. We used LAR and they were awesome, super punctual and professional I went with my boyfriend for my birthday and we are already planning next year's trip The only thing I will say, if you have room preferences that you put in through Riu, make sure to follow up. The hotel is beautiful with orchids by the pool side and an occasional visit from the monkeys. The outdoor dining was fantastic and the drinks and food were incredible as well. It is nice to be so close to dining and shops and be able to walk."
