This place is a HUGE hidden gem! From start to finish, the service, staff, spa, value for money, everything was fantastic! We have stayed in many many hotels in the UK and this hotel has to be our favourite. The secret garden spa for an extra £25pp is worth every penny! Such a shame this fabulous hotel is not advertised on more websites like Expedia because they must be missing out on a great number of bookings. The accommodation is excellent and comfortable with everything you could want or need. The breakfast is also excellent, well cooked with high quality locally sourced produce. The staff are friendly and a joy to talk to. This is a lovely hotel and we would not hesitate to visit in the future. Highly recommended.

Our stay at Walworth Castle Hotel was truly memorable, not just because of the stunning setting, but thanks to the incredible staff who went above and beyond to make us feel welcome. It is close to motorway and easy to drive around. Staff is friendly. Food in the restaurant is of high standard. The room is clean and spacious.

As ever an excellent hotel

Great location as we were attending an event at the rugby club over the road. We booked room only, which was very good overlooking the main entrance, as were the staff. Only downside was the noisy disco from a function room below us, although it finished at 12.30am.

Stayed in a feature room, really authentic. Staff are great and spa access was £15pp.

Very nicely situated in a quiet village area 3miles from the town centre. Large car park at the rear and easy access to a bus service outside. Clean pub and rooms of a reasonable quality. Staff very helpful and accommodating. Well priced.

We thoroughly enjoyed our 2 night stay in this beautiful boutique hotel. We booked the room overlooking the Cathedral which was stunning. The room was really large and immaculately designed. The gentleman who checked us in was so friendly and helpful. The walk was no more than 10 minutes to the centre. We were so impressed with this hotel and Durham we would definitely come back.

First off, Sue (the owner) is just the best! I phoned in advance and asked a couple of favours of her, to put a couple of gifts in the room to surprise my girlfriend. Not only did she do it but she did it for less than budget! (If you do ask something of her like this, it's only fair to reward the wonderful lady with a gift of her own. OK?! Haha!) What a find. Super rural location, friendly and helpful staff. The rooms were spotless with loads of little special extras. The breakfast and the bistro style food was superb. We had a brilliant stay here and we would not hesitate to recommend it to family and friends.
