Pocket Guide: Manchester Chorlton Ees Nature Reserve Hotels

Manchester may once have been a great hive of Industrial Revolution activity but the landscape has been completely transformed since the Industrial Revolution. Now, there's a new emphasis on green open spaces, and you'll see when you stay at a Manchester hotel anywhere in the city that there's a lot of nature to enjoy here. Manchester has several excellent parks and numerous nature reserve, home to wildlife of special local interest such as peregrine falcons. One of the best of these is the Chorlton Ees Nature Reserve.

Manchester Hotels for the Chorlton Ees Nature Reserve

The Chorlton Ees Nature Reserve covers 58 hectares and consists mainly of grassland and woodland. It's a Grade B Site of Biological Importance in the official jargon, but for locals and visitors alike it's just a great place to come for fresh air and a beautiful natural environment. The wildflower meadows are especially delightful and colourful, and you can spend a very pleasant day here from your guesthouse, B&B or hotel in Manchester. Peregrines can often be seen on window ledges of the taller buildings in the city centre itself, but their nests and hunting grounds are in the parks and nature reserves, and that's where you need to come to see them in their most natural state.

A Day at the Chorlton Ees Nature Reserve with Manchester Hotels

While you're in this part of Manchester you can have a look around Chorlton too, which is renowned for its designer shops and boutique outlets. It also has annual food, art and drink festivals, and a pleasant semi-rural atmosphere. In addition to Chorlton Ees Nature Reserve, you'll have Chorlton Water Park close by, so this is a great place to come with the family from your Manchester hotel or guesthouse in the city centre for a taste of country living. You'll soon discover that Manchester is far from being an industrial conurbation nowadays, but has mellowed and modernised into an attractive combination of cityscapes and rural environments. The Lake District and Peak District are just a short drive away too if you're feeling adventurous.
