A well fitted out hotel in pleasant surroundings,.

Posted 22-Sep-2017
Pros: The ambiance
Cons: Why is the orange and other juices so fare from the other breakfast foods?
I suspect the management have not got a grip of the little routines and systems necessary to, make the hotel work smoothly. Our 3 separate. Contacts with different members of staff were all settled in a satisfactory and helpful manner.

Great hotel in lovely setting with good facilities

Posted 03-Sep-2017
The drive way up to the hotel really shows off the grounds and the elegant original house very well. Check in was smooth, efficient and friendly; my room, though small as it was a single, was thoughtfully designed. The swimming pool was a decent size, just a shame the steam room was out of use and the roomy brand new sauna was still 'running in' so set at a max of 70c - but the heat did accumulate enough to break into a glow.

Accommodation was different from the picture

Posted 29-Aug-2017
Having seen the hotel in the picture. Viewed the rooms has well. To find we were put in the mews. Which was a short walk from the house. Room was very compact. I think I would have got better value if I had booked a premier inn.

Quiet and comfortable Country Estate

Posted 25-Aug-2017
Pros: Overall ambience, facilities and location
Cons: Good as it is!
Location: Relatively isolated in its own 30 acres of parkland there is one church and local pub within moderate walking distance but anything else requires car
Recently refurbished to a high standard with good facilities and amenities. Tucked away in small village in rural setting. Easy arrival and departure via helpful efficient Reception staff. Rooms and leisure facilities to high standard and restaurant offers excellent service and menu. May not suit everyone due to it's relatively isolated rural location.

We stayed here for a wedding recently and although the rooms are nicely presented, reasonably spacious, comfortable and clean, we were not particularly impressed with the place. Apparently it has recently undergone a refit, and it seemed that the staff were still in need of some training. We arrived at 12.00 for a wedding at 2.30, and expected to be able to get in to our room to be able to freshen up and change after a long journey, but were told that no rooms were available. The receptionist said that if we waited in the bar area then she would call us when the room was ready. At 1.30 we had still heard nothing so went back to reception to find that the room had been ready for a while! Whilst waiting at the bar I decided to get some drinks, however the barman seemed to have other ideas. He was busying himself getting bottles out of a cupboard, and asked me to wait until he had finished that job before serving me! As more people arrived the bar service became worse, with only one member of staff on duty, and only eventually assisted by a manager. Ordering food from the bar was another delight, with simple bar snacks and sandwiches taking over 35 minutes to arrive. The service at the wedding reception was much better, and the evening bar service also good. The hotel is clearly something of a wedding factory, and it seemed rather ironic that when checking out the next morning, the next guests were arriving for that days wedding and also looking for access to their rooms!

Some issues they need to sort out

Posted 12-Jun-2017 on Hotels
The hotel is situated in a very nice location and has recently had a £7 million rebuild. Chalfont Latimer tube station is about 3 minute drive with plenty of parking so good for London. The hotel isn't signposted so difficult to find. It is suffering badly from some basic principles of hotel management. Unable to book in at 1.15pm computer says NO, really great after a 3 hour drive. Waited over an hour for an evening meal, my wife had the same problem with bar stacks the next day. Swimming pool was not available. However food was very good when it did arrive. This is a very corporate style hotel more suitable to conferences and weddings than a base to relax which is a shame.
