The best area to stay in Broughton is the village centre, particularly around the A701 and the area immediately surrounding it.

This compact village centre is the heart of Broughton. It's where you'll find the local shop, pub, and the attractive village green. The River Broughton meanders nearby, adding to the rural feel. It's a small, welcoming hub that provides convenient access to local amenities and the surrounding countryside.

Couples looking for a tranquil escape will find the village centre ideal. It offers a relaxed pace of life, with opportunities for gentle walks along the river or enjoying a quiet evening at the local pub. The proximity to the Borders Railway, with its station at nearby Peebles, makes it easy to explore further afield without needing a car constantly.

For those interested in outdoor activities, staying within the village centre provides easy access to the many walking and cycling routes that crisscross the surrounding hills and dales.

The best time to go to Broughton is during the spring and summer months, from April to September.

During this period, the weather is generally milder and there are longer daylight hours, which is ideal for exploring the scenic Scottish Borders. You'll find the countryside at its most beautiful, with blooming wildflowers in spring and lush greenery in summer, great for outdoor activities like walking and cycling.

For those who enjoy outdoor pursuits, late spring and early summer (May to July) are particularly good. The conditions are pleasant for hiking in the nearby hills, fishing in the River Tweed, or visiting local gardens and estates like Dawyck Botanic Garden. The local events calendar also tends to be fuller during these months, offering a chance to experience local culture.

If you prefer a quieter trip with fewer crowds and don't mind cooler temperatures, the shoulder months of April and September can be very rewarding. The landscape is still stunning, and accommodation might offer better value.
