The Hotel is a 15 century house which has been sympathetically restored retaining many of the original features. The bedrooms in the main house were charming, very clean with a very fresh en suite and lovely white bed linen and towels. There is an award winning restaurant which produced mouth-watering meals with a menu to suit most palates. What made the stay memorable were the very friendly, helpful and thoughtful staff. 3 Adults one child and a dog, three nights, very tight budget. I did not fancy camping as I didn't want to get wet and cold, my knees demand a high bed and my bladder wants a loo...well, when it wants a loo! I was lucky enough to get a double smoking room with sofa bed for approx the same price as a tent with electric hook-up . The receptionist made us feel very welcome. We stayed in this beautiful farmhouse for my 50th birthday get together. The hosts really have thought of everything. Cold sitting outside? The hosts have provided blankets, towels for the hot tub are stacked in the boot room nearest to the hot tub. Children attending are fantastically catered for with a range of indoor and outdoor games (we packed some but didn't need them). Holiday reads are neatly stacked if you forget your book, there's a doll's house for younger children. Outside there is a...

A little off the beaten track but accommodation was excellent. All staff were friendly and courteous. Room was spacious with a great shower. Pub below/next door had a good selection of real ales.

We couldn't fault this - from the welcome, through a comfortable sleep to a friendly great breakfast. Lovely place, well-run, perfectly clean, and very friendly. The views from the rooms are extensive, yet it's a short walk to a very acceptable pub with good beer and meals. Definitely one to go back to.

We stayed two nights at the Bear in September and enjoyed it immensely. This is a ancient Coaching Inn and so layout is a little quirky. But the room was a good size and extremely comfortable. Large four poster bed, comfortable armchair, sufficient hanging space, a well appointed en suite and tea making facilities, made for a great stay. Breakfast was individually made and well cooked. We also are in the bar late on Sunday and the roast (topside of beef and all trimmings) was outstanding....

Lovely room with an amazing view. Facilities were great, and there were lots of lovely little touches, such as the dressing gowns. Also I had asked if there would be any oat/soya milk available as I have an intolerance, when we arrived there was not only oat milk but gluten and dairy free cereals, biscuits and yoghurt. Very appreciated
Only drawback was the lack of parking, it's a shame that something can't be worked out with the council to get a reduced rate. Would recommend this place, and we...
