"Stunning house from the outside. Beautiful inside. Stayed in courtyard room which was a really good size, comfortable large bed, clean bathroom although could do with an update. Both atrium and 1853 restaurants had really good evening food. Buffet breakfast was plentiful and really delicious with plenty of options for my dairy intolerant wife so top marks to management for that. We really enjoyed spending time in the Library room/bar, the perfect room for just chilling. The grounds are stunning with the trees in full autumnal colours. Can't fault our three night stay, glad we chose Tortworth Court for my birthday celebrations. Will definitely be going back."

"We love the Gainsborough Hotel and it's somewhere we've visited on more than one occasion, due to the mineral pools that are part of the hotel's amenities. However, for the first time in our many visits, we were asked to pay an extra amount (£70 per person for 2 hours) to use the pools outside the guests' complimentary hours of 8-10am and 7-9pm. For four people, this would have added an extra £280 to our bill - rather a lot when the hotel rooms are already fairly expensive. This relatively new policy did take the shine off visiting the hotel, particularly as the pools were really busy in the complimentary evening slot. It's a shame that the hotel have decided to try and make more money out of guests in this way and would make us think twice about booking the hotel again."

"We found the interior design to be inventive and beautiful. The hotel is a joining of 12 (?) different houses and getting around can feel like one is in a maze. As an older couple, they gave us a room we could get to, avoiding stairs and gave us a great view. The modern bathroom had to be a bit cramped to accommodate the many mergings of houses. We would have liked to have had tissues and more hanging space in the room. The bed was way too hard for one of us. They brought up a duvet to top the sheets, which helped. The breakfast was fabulous. The Beau restaurant served good food with accommodations for a wide variety of dietary needs. The staff (all of them) went above and beyond to serve us with cheery attitudes. The hotel is well located. We highly recommend the hotel if a 4 star is a good option for you."
