Cosy Boarding house with fantastic views.
My wife and I with another couple spent 2 nights at Bryn Melyn. We were all very impressed with the standard of service and the quality of the breakfast and (optional) evening meal. The rooms were nicely decorated with modern bathroom facilities, comfortable beds and wonderful views over the estuary. The cosy lounge with excellent choice of pre-dinner drinks, and the dining room overlooking the grade with it's host of birds were a delight. The proud owners, David and Heather deserve a lot of praise for the facilities and the friendly service which they provide.

A high room with a fine view
Bryn Melyn is set up a steep and narrow hill, and manoeuvring a big car was tricky. But the view from the car park of the estuary was magnificent. We had a warm welcome and climbed up two floors to a room with an even better view. The simple room was fine, the common areas supplied maps and books and photographs of the truly beautiful region. Breakfast was well done, the usual basics and a good choice of cooked food made to order. the owners take their duty of hospitality seriously and I'd have no hesitation about staying there again.

An excellent base for a holiday in Snowdonia
An excellent guest house situated on a hill overlooking the estuary. Welcoming hosts with lots of useful advice and local knowledge. We had a large, well-furnished, clean and comfortable bedroom with excellent views. A very enjoyable breakfast is provided based on local produce. The guest house at the top of a steep hill - so be prepared for some exercise when you walk into town. It only provides breakfast so you have to go into Barmouth for other meals. I believe that packed lunches are available on request - but have no practical experience of this. There are tea & coffee making facilities in the bedroom plus a good free wifi service. Overall, very good value for the money.

Perfect for visiting the area
Nearly everything about this Guest House is great. The owners, David & Heather, were both very pleasant and helpful, the room was spacious the bathroom had all the usual toiletries and the view from the room was more than impressive. I enjoyed a personalised breakfast each morning which, except for an afternoon tea and biscuits, was enough for me until my evening meal. Like most old buildings, it is possible to hear people in other rooms but I have been to very few hotels that have been sound-proofed. I did not find it a problem over the four days I stayed. I certainly recommend Bryn Melyn.

A sanctuary worth revisiting
Decided at the last minute to have a short driving holiday in wales with my best friend and found this place by chance. I am glad that we have stayed here. We were blessed by the glorious weather and the scenery from the window took our breaths away. Too bad we came in and had to leave in haste, should time permits I would spend a few days just walk or cycle around the neighbourhood, and admire the nature and the warm locals that make it memorable.

Friendly Atmosphere with Great Views
We spent 3 nights at this Guest House & the hosts David & Heather went out of their way to make us feel welcome. David went out of his way to assist us in choosing walks we could do on each day. David even provided maps which was extremely helpful. Very good, freshly cooked breakfast was served up each morning. There was plenty of choice for breakfast too. Our room had an Estuary view & this view was absolutely stunning. Yes, it was that good. Sat in the small garden on 2 of the afternoons with a nice glass of wine (very relaxing). You can also watch the birds / squirrels eating from the several feeding stations in the garden. One downside for some people would be the location of the guest house. It is situated on a steep road. So, if you can't handle walking up steep slopes you can always get a taxi or park in the town & drive back up.

Great service, food and location
Hotel is excellent and the proprietors, David in particular, were very helpful in advising on some very good local walks. As mentioned, the access and parking can be a bit tricky if you're not comfortable with driving in tight spaces, but not too daunting. Also, it is a bit of a climb from the town, but again, would not be a problem for most people. Overall the hotel was excellent; room, food, facilities, bar, service, and the location, so would definitely recommend it for anyone staying in the area.

Nice with some minor issues
Tight for Parking with Long Wheel Base Van. Steep Hill to Barmouth for Food & Drink. Slow Wi-Fi - quickly drops from 32 mbps to 2 (or less) mbps in room. Nice Breakfast. Breakfast only server between 8 and 9 am. Slow water supply in Shower. Barmouth looks tired and dirty, perhaps due to traffic pollution.

A Place to Relax.
The Hotel was very clean, the rooms and bathrooms were modern and spacious and the extra little bits were very thoughtful. The Welsh breakfasts were well presented and well cooked and most enjoyable. The views were amazing across the estuary and and watching the wild birds feed on a specially adapted bird area is lovely. If relaxing with an amazing view is your thing then the Bryn Melyn is for you. If you are visiting the town and don't want to drive the walk up and down the hill can be a bit daunting but getting a taxi is very easy. All in all David and Heather run a very efficient hotel.

Lovely hotel but very steep drive and not easy to
Lovely stay but they were unable to offer evening meal unless ordered in a morning at breakfast. We didn't arrive till 15.00 so then had to go out again for evening meal. after travelling it would have been far nicer to eat in the guest house and have a drink in the bar. This is something we would have to take into account next time as we loved Barmouth and will go back again. Breakfast was excellent.

We were made to feel very welcome with our dog, the full 'Welsh' breakfast was lovely and a little extra for the dog. The view was amazing but to get it you have to live up cardiac hill.. A bit of a haul up when you've had a beer or two but well worth it when you open the curtains in the morning

Great location
Super stay, gracious hosts and convenient location for all that we wanted to do along the mid Wales coast and the southern parts of Snowdonia. Bryn Melyn is on the side of a steep hill - that's why it is secluded, quiet and has such a great view over the estuary. Just what we wanted but walking or driving the narrow hill road held no qualms for us; you must decide for yourselves but we highly recommend it!

Wow
Had a fabulous stay in a lovely location. The views from our room were amazing and breakfast was superb. Very friendly owners who had advice for all on where to go and what to see. We loved it so much we booked for the following night and were reluctant to leave. Loved all the special little touches, from the complimentary toiletries to the tranquil background music at breakfast whilst watching the wildlife eat theirs. Will definitely be back again

Perfect for quiet retreat
Beautiful spot on the hill at walking distance from town and promenade. Only the chirping birds to hear and a view that changes by the hour. Expected a week of rain but met with sunny days and a few rainy spells. The hosts were very welcoming and helpful with recommendations for where to walk and eat.

Best Place We've Stayed
If you’re looking to stay anywhere near Barmouth, you should be staying here. There’s only one thing that might put you off and that's the hill from the seafront. However, that means you get great views over the estuary, and if you don't fancy the walk or drive, a local taxi is available. The list of reasons you’d want to stay here, though, is considerable. The thing that takes this place to another level is your hosts; David and Heather. Nothing is too much trouble to make your stay perfect and their local knowledge is extensive. On arrival we were given a tour of the house and we mentioned that one reason for staying was to climb Snowdon. David provided us with daily mountain weather forecasts from the Met Office, gave advice on trails, and loaned us an OS map of the area and a waterproof holder. We spent a while chatting to both David and Heather and found them to be really lovely people, more interested in making sure people had a great time than just running a business. Beyond the hosts, the rooms are clean and comfortable with good showers. Breakfast each morning is part cereal buffet, part cooked to order, with a great view of the estuary and of the local wildlife visiting the bird feeder. The guest house has a lounge area, stocked with books and games, as well as a small bar. The whole guest house is well kept and I am certain we will return. One tip for anyone staying; spend some time in the lounge and read the Theta Bear books. We very much enjoyed them!

Amazing Breakfast with Gorgeous View!
If you don't have a car, this place is a climb, but so worth the views. I really enjoyed sitting in their beautiful garden with a cold local ale and watching the birds visit the feeder and taking in sunset views. The traditional breakfast ( I passed on the baked beans because I was already full from toast, fruit and yogurt ) is wonderful and the hosts are delightful and friendly!

Beautiful place, quiet, peaceful, everything you could need available. Minutes' walk to the beach. Good bus links to further inland for woodland walks at Coed-y-Brenin. The owners printed off bus timetables and routes for me and were so helpful. Would love to visit again.

Excellent experience to cap my Snowdonia tour
I recently spent four days touring around Snowdonia and my stay in the Bryn Melyn Guest House was by far my most exceptional night abroad. My room provided a perfect view of the ocean and very quick walk into the Snowdonia woods. My room was clean, comfortable, and came equipped with a very nice bathroom. However, the best part were the hosts. They provided a very enjoyable evening with beverages and games followed by a morning where they cooked all the guests breakfast. And they were most ready to help us make the most out of our trip by pointing us in the direction of excellent scenery and local activities. This stay turned into a very pleasant surprise that I won't soon forget.
